I'm not a New Yorker and even I know Little Italy fell off as an Italian enclave 60 years ago. The 2020 census recorded zero Italian-born immigrants in the neighbourhood. Today it's basically yuppies working in FiDi, creatives who want access to SoHo, and an extension of Chinatown.

Two years since the election, Labour has burned political capital turning right on social issues. For all that: it's only enticed 1% of Reform voters – but repelled 30% of its own base to the Greens, Lib Dems & SNP/Plaid; it's lost twice as many to "don't know" than to Reform. What a tragic waste.
