Artist, printmaker, sculptor, translator of various subjects. Foxes, owls, stones and bones I have an online store for some of my limited edition linocuts
A spotted tiger moth - the last of the moths I'll post (for now). In all of my moth paintings from that period I focussed on closeup details of the moths rather than the whole shape, making them rather abstract. #MothoftheDay #NationalMothWeek
Fox of the Mycelium 🦊🌿🌗 The colour in the image comes from black tea and rosehip ink 🌿 #FoxFriday #FoxoftheDay #FungiFriday
Northern Tiger Moth - another one from my Moth period 🌿 #MothoftheDay #NationalMothWeek
And here is a leopard moth from my moth period... #MothoftheDay #NationalMothWeek 🌿🐾🦋
I had a bit of a moth phase some years ago, and I'll post a few in the next few days. First up, close-up detail of Habrosyne scripta, the lettered habrosyne or scribe moth 🦋 #NationalMothWeek
'Owl Mother' by Stefani Lostimolo 🤍 - some owlish comfort for #OwlishMonday
My copy of Emberlings has arrived. It is a thing of beauty, words and artwork 🌒 If you haven't already, get yours, treat yourself. Or get several, it would make a lovely prezzie 🌿
and another glimpse of Friday's encounter with the angel of lithic green - crowned and gowned in ivy and hawthorn 🌿
yesterday's encounter with the lithic angel, enfolded in ivy and hawthorn 🌿 @hookland.bsky.social
I love hazelnuts 🌿🐾🌀 For every cluster of three, make a wish 🌠 This linocut was inspired by one of my favourite films when I was younger: Three wishes for Cinderella/ Tři oříšky pro Popelku/ Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel (1973)
ventured into Hookland yesterday at twilight. Encountered a lithic angel with an ivy crown🌿
Midsummer Owl, surrounded by and made up of St. John's Wort 🧡🌀🌕 #OwlishMonday
If you look closely you can see the creepy doll's heads are still there
Graffiti update to the Tunnel of Doom 🌿 @reblambert.bsky.social #UnderpassesAreLiminalSpaces
The Snork Maiden describes a Moomin Valley custom: after the Midsummer bonfire burned down you'd collect 9 kinds of flowers and place them under your pillow, and your dreams would come true. 'But you weren't allowed to say a word while you picked them...' #Wyrdwednesday 1/2
it looks quite sweet. Probably not that dissimilar to Grandma's coffee grinder really :)
'I mention his talk about angles because it suggests something Wilcox had told me of his awful dreams. He said that the geometry of the dream-place he saw was abnormal, non-Euclidean, and loathsomely redolent of spheres and dimensions apart from ours.' - The Call of Cthulhu, HP Lovecraft 2/3
'... for instead of describing any definite structure or building, he dwells only on broad impressions of vast angles and stone surfaces - surfaces too great to belong to anything right or proper for this earth, and impious with horrible images and hieroglyphs... #WyrdWednesday 1/2
'Owl Impersonator' 🤍🌿🌒 I think this might be a job I would enjoy. Oh, to be an owl! #OwlishMonday 1/2
Fox and stars and blossom 🖤🌘🤍 My first ever aquatint etching, did a workshop at a lovely printmaking studio in Brixton last Saturday #FoxFriday #FoxoftheDay
Another view of the labyrinth in London SE23. More recent rain means more sprouting grass, good 🌿 #LabyrinthoftheDay
I thought I had missed the stage when young holly leaves emerge as tiny light green tender leaves but did come across a few yesterday in the woods. @loupgarou.bsky.social alerted me to them many years ago. They are so lovely to touch before they go all spiky 🌿
Today I went oak gall foraging. Went back to a tree I spotted in May, full of previous year's oak galls. They were too high to reach by hand so today I took along a broken umbrella I found last week (with wooden hooked handle, pretty sure it has been chewed by foxes)
I agree :) I've been talking for years / dreaming about foxes wandering the labyrinth at night/ when nobody's watching
