Market Forces looked at investment in Australia's clean energy sector, and found a super-sized gap. In fact, Canadian pension funds have contributed more to Australian renewable energy projects than Australia's own super industry has. 🍁 📄 www.marketforces.org.au/campaigns/su...
"We need to do everything we can to try and make the world a better place for the next generation." Winnie Fu has a young son, and thinks of his future often. When she found out her super fund #AustralianSuper is now the biggest shareholder in Whitehaven Coal, she was shocked.
With fellow mourners and an accompanying string quartet, we laid the short-lived climate ambition of #Macquarie to rest outside its AGM ⚰️
We ensured Macquarie’s climate ambition got the farewell it deserved at its AGM today!
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of #Macquarie’s climate ambition, following a long illness brought on by increased fossil fuel financing, weakened climate commitments, and backing fracking in the Beetaloo Basin.
Internationally acclaimed climate scientist John Church on why he's attending the #Macquarie AGM 👇
Let's go 📣 We're in Sydney today for Macquarie's annual general meeting. We will be asking #Macquarie how its skyrocketing finance for major new oil and gas projects, including the #Beetaloo Basin, is aligned with its commitment to the #climate goals of the Paris Agreement
We've joined more than 160 shareholders and major investors to ask Macquarie to please explain if the Group remains committed to aligning its financing with net zero by 2050 and disclose how its fossil fuel financing is aligned with its pledge to global climate goals. fnarena.com/index.php/20...

#BREAKING 🚨 Purari Delta leader calls for halt to Papua LNG Development Forum enabling Total and Exxon-Mobil giant gas project #climate #humanrights #papuaLNG 🌏 1/5
"A host of red flags" and "deeply shocking" 🚩 Serious #humanrights concerns have been raised over a huge Papua New Guinea LNG gas project backed by TotalEnergies, Exxon and Santos. @jubileeaus.bsky.social 🔗 www.jubileeaustralia.org/news/latest-... #climate #papuaLNG
The gas industry has been peddling its own importance to the #cleanenergy transition for years, but there are "glaring holes" in the logic — and the biggest miscalculation is about the surge in renewables, with 79% of Asia ahead of the US on solar. @reuters.com | www.reuters.com/commentary/b...
Super funds are missing a critical opportunity to back Australia’s clean energy transition. In fact, Canadian pension funds have more direct investments in Australian renewable energy projects than our own super funds do. How ridiculous is that?
AustralianSuper is the top shareholder in Whitehaven Coal, which has the biggest coal expansion plans of any company in Australia. #AustralianSuper members – join the campaign and call on your fund to step up and say no to Whitehaven’s new coal: australiansuperpolluter.com 🔥 #climate
Roughly 1 in 3 people in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia are willing to switch banks over coal finance. It’s time for banks in Southeast Asia to listen to their customers. #climate #southeastasia #energy
Our research — conducted with YouGov — finds a majority of people in #Singapore (52%), #Indonesia (61%) and #Malaysia (54%) do not consider nickel to be ‘green’ if it is produced using coal power.
#ICYMI New data reveals 3 in 5 people across Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia expect “no coal” to actually mean no coal, when it comes to bank finance. Yet despite their own coal exclusion policies, banks like OCBC, UOB, DBS, Maybank and CIMB are still pouring millions into industrial coal plants.
#SaveScottReef 🪸 Browse LNG threatens an ancient marine paradise home to vibrant corals, pygmy blue whales, sharks, rays, and endangered green turtles. These creatures don't have a voice, but we do. 🐋 It's time for Mitsubishi and Mitsui to #ExitBrowse.
The incredible marine creatures that call Scott Reef home don't have a voice to speak to MIMI, but we do. 🐋 Want to help #SaveScottReef? Take a quick online action now and tell MIMI: Hands off Scott Reef and #ExitBrowse. 🪸 www.marketforces.org.au/browse-lng-b... #climate
🌊 The ocean produces our oxygen and regulates our climate. We need clean #renewableenergy systems that support our future — not ones that destroy #biodiversity, pollute our atmosphere and oceans, and sacrifice living reefs.
🌏 In a world moving rapidly toward renewables, Browse LNG is a bad bet: a financial and environmental liability for current and future generations. Both #Mitsubishi and #Mitsui have committed to #NetZero by 2050. They should not be involved in Browse, full stop.
💣 Browse is set to release 887 million tonnes of carbon emissions, making it a massive "carbon bomb". These emissions will fuel the marine heatwaves currently bleaching and killing our reefs — as well as driving life-altering #climate disasters like bushfires and floods.

HANDS OFF SCOTT REEF 🌊🪸 David Attenborough said it best: "If we save the sea, we save our world." We've joined this plea and held actions with @greenpeaceap.bsky.social across Australia to call on #Mitsubishi and #Mitsui (MIMI) to #SaveScottReef and withdraw from Browse LNG. Here's why 👇 1/6
