I remember driving to the mall on Sep 7, 1997, to pick up my preorder of Final Fantasy VII. I was 17. It was a Sunday, so I had to wait for the mall to open. I then sat in the car and opened the case because I was so excited. I wanted to see the manual before the 15 minute drive home. I miss that.
“Verify your age” I remember receiving a NES as a Christmas gift when it was the hot new system.
My wife surprised our 15yo with a CRT today. He’s been super excited to get one. He’s now playing a MiSTer connected to it and having an absolute blast.
I hear what you’re saying, but I am one of the few that probably won’t be buying it. Physical games are a big deal to me. And if I’ve gotta buy digital, I trust GOG and Steam much more to keep the downloads available.
My kids and I are playing around with the new CRT effects, HDR and quasi-4K mode added to the Retrotink 5x Pro. This is the closest thing I’ve seen to a CRT since I owned one. Pretty incredible.
Finally. I already have a MiSTer and I didn’t really need another one, but I wanted to support what Taki is doing. And if mine ever breaks, I’ve got a backup.
I, uhh, feel like I’m getting sick. Cough cough. Yeah. That’s it. The latest game in one of my favorite series of all time just released this weekend. Time to go slay some monsters.
Zootopia 2 and Thunder Force V with the kids tonight. Great movie. The game’s pretty fun too :)
Friday night shenanigans on Evercade. I’ve never successfully gotten out of the castle in this game. Trying yet again. I probably just don’t know what I’m doing. Atic Atac is the game.
This seemed like a good way to spend a snowy weekend. Beyond Good and Evil.
I miss Japan Studio. They made so many fun and incredible games. Not everything needs to be serious and grim. I put this in front of the kids today and they’re having a blast.
My son thought he would do better against me at Street Fighter II if we used the fight sticks. He did not succeed. We’re having fun though.
Saturday afternoon project. My son has been very hard on his laptop keyboard, so I replaced it. I had to take almost every component out and remove the screen from the body shell to get it done, but it worked.
I was already mostly done with GameStop. Now I’m completely done with GameStop. Particularly over their later post.
$30 a month? I’m sure glad we’ve got a Gamepass at home. At this point I’m just buying new games I want to support and playing through the backlog. This subscription stuff is bad for us.
