This week was the first “summer” festivities I’ve gotten to enjoy all summer. I’ve finished my first weaving project (finally after 8 months), went to see MUNA (best show I’ve been to in so long) with close friends and got to the river for the first time this summer with one of my faves. 💕
Trying to tie the cords to my treadles looked so easy 😭 First treadle was a success. Second one nearly complete if it’ll cooperate 🙃 One more to go 🫠😮💨 This entire process thus far has taken over an hour. Not super long but holy moly it is teaching me patience. #weaving #loom #fiberarts
Trying to not be afraid to show myself to the world. Body dysmorphia is in full swing basically all year but heightened during the summer; especially scrolling social media. However, feeling a lil more proud of myself today than usual which is promising.
Feeling a lot of stupid insecurities today and trying to celebrate wins from the last week. I am finished #weaving my first project (just gotta sew the seams). I also brought in my very first loom I purchased into the studio to repair and was able to at least understand it a little more and
Happy #Caturday This is from about a month ago but wanted to share Frank’s introduction to our backyard. He loves exploring new surroundings and is fascinated by so much; including flies that come around on occasion 🪰💩. #speicalboy #frankthesnowshoecat #snowshoe #catsofbsky
In other news… 🙃 I was able to convert a pattern for a blanket and started a tote bag which has been fun. I didn’t realize a part of it was widening but thankfully it’s near the base so it isn’t *that* noticeable. #fiberarts #crochet #crochetsky #textiles #mosaic
Took apart my set of towels and wove again to try to make a consistent pattern on the second towel 🥴 I’m reminded that it’s not going to look perfect and that I just need to get them done. Thursday I’m hoping they’ll actually be completed so I can begin my next project. #fiberarts #weaving
Studio day featuring #sudanarchives First time in a month since I’ve been able to get into studio. Ready for these towels to be completed and I’m hoping by Sunday they’ll finally be done. #natureofpower #weaving
🔊 Sundays are for big yawns; just ask Frank. #catsofbsky #snowshoecat #godsfavoritechild
Worked on my kitchen towels briefly yesterday and really appreciate time spent in studio and with myself. Hard to believe that I’m still able to do this but holy moly I feel so grateful. #weaving #fiberarts #selfdiscovery
Ahhhh. Nothin like getting nazi propaganda sent by my dad just to get my attention and catch up! #HAPPYPRIDE
Making small progress on my kitchen towels! Had to take apart some of the warp so I could weave back in some loose yarn hanging off the side of my piece but I’m pretty excited to see how these turn out. Now if I could just master the selvages… #weaving #fiberarts #floorloom
Finally got some headway on these kitchen towels. I incorrectly made my warp thicker than what it was initially supposed to be which is why the color blocking looks off, but I’m just so happy I’m making progress. #weaving #weaversky #fibersky #fiberarts
Today I got a better feel of my loom and the process dressing it for the first time. Sure is reminding me how patient I have to be with it * and myself* 😅😭! I am however loving this color pallet and excited to incorporate some fuschia later on. 🥲💖 #weaving #warp #weaversofbsky #loom #fiberart
Ive been able to get into the studio (twice!) for the first time in over a month. It was really good to just be present, working on my first project and getting to know other members. Feeling more and more comfortable with my loom and environment. 💖 #weaving #weaversofbsky #fiberarts #textiles
*timeline cleanser* Frank being the goofiest aka himself. #frankthecat #snowshoecat #catsofbsky
Life is finally starting to feel normal. I could probably write a book about the last 6 months; and maybe I will one day. But right now in this moment it is the most calm, “normal” and honestly joyful time I’ve had in what feels like years. So grateful.
Today was my last workday from my full time schedule. I’ve been anticipating an opportunity to do it for a little over a year now, but had it on my mind and heart for like 2-3 years. Finally beginning a new chapter that honestly feels too good to be true yet also, meant to be? Literally life changin
Taking the day to measure my own warp (now that I know what I’m doing..kinda) so I can copy what I’m learning from the studio and make something similar here at home. #weaving #warping #fiberarts
Today I got to go into the weaving studio and finish my warp and sleigh the reed. Only took 4 hours to get it all done but next step is to dress my loom and then get started on weaving!
Trying to sneak a selfie without anyone noticing. Today I got to return to ceramics class and it felt so natural being back in the studio. My teacher and classmates are so fun and easy going it just makes the whole day feel like I can fully let my hair down.
Untangled the longest skein of silk yarn with literally my entire family, watched a true Arizona sunset, saw the stars at night, rekindled a relationship with my parents and sister and so much more. I didn’t cry leaving. I’m determined to come home again this year. Time. That’s all I want.
