Piranesi by Susanna Clarke In an infinite, labyrinthine house of statues and oceans, Piranesi discovers the truth of the structure and himself. This atmospheric fantasy novel plays into the wonder and eeriness of liminal spaces and I couldn’t put it down. 4.5/5 🌊 #MarlequinnReads
I was looking up a reference for a specific Jojo pose and was shown this masterpiece of related search query.
Obviously I can’t put the other pieces on the mannequin since it doesn’t have limbs, so they’re hanging out in this bin
After almost 10 months of blood, sweat, and tears, my Griffith cosplay is done! I’ll be doing the full costest soon; tune in for the grand reveal on August 12, 2026, the date of the next solar eclipse 🌑
The last thing to do is rig the armor. While I can just slide on some pieces, others have different structural requirements. I’m using basically every method under the sun from velcro to metal hinges to homemade real leather buckles and wall hooks. #CosplayBuildLog
The repaint is done! Does it have more texture than I’d like thanks to the brushstrokes? Yes. But it’s the right color, it reads as metal and it’s fully flexible so I’m content. #CosplayBuildLog
Sometimes things don't go as planned. 😅 The spray paint decided to flake off the EVA foam, so I changed course. I sanded everything back to the base foam, and primed it with black Cosflex. Now I’m in the process of repainting with Liquitex acrylic paint in Silver, which is flexible. #CosplayBuildLog
We’ve finally got a date for the next batch of Steel Ball Run episodes: September 25! And Jojo Fridays are back! 📸: @sharmashari.bsky.social Cosplay by me Belt buckle STL: hexerik #Cosplay #SteelBallRun #JJBA
I re-made the sword (the original got damaged at the ren faire) and made a scabbard as well. #CosplayBuildLog STLs from AbyssArtStudio
I’m in the home stretch now; I need to add some light detail shading to the armor and rig it, and then Griffith is done!
I’ve started using Seymour Filler Primer for my 3D prints with DAP Plastic Wood Filler on the seams and that combination, with sanding, basically erases seams and print lines. These prints (the blade and scabbard of my Griffith sword) are each made up of 3 smaller pieces.
Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia A fairytale set in 1920’s Mexico, a young woman frees the Mayan god of death. I enjoyed Mexican Gothic and I love the concept of this, but I DNF’d at around 50%. Too YA for me and I wasn’t connected to the characters. 2/5 ☠️ #MarlequinnReads
I have excellent range of motion with the gauntlet and am able to hold items like a sword, my phone, or this manga relevant water bottle. The only thing I can’t do is make a tight fist.
The thing about capes is that while the general shape is simple, you need a frankly stupid amount of fabric to make one full length. I used up all of my clips and had to switch to pin because it’s so big. #CosplayBuildLog
Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica In a dystopian world where a disease turns animal meat toxic, society normalizes cannibalism. Clinical and disturbing, this is less a book about the meat industry and more about extreme dehumanization. Not for the faint of heart. 4/5 🥩 #MarlequinnReads
There's only one sewing element to this build and that’s the cape. I’m using a white poly satin (exterior) and a purple poly satin (interior) from Mood Fabrics. I wanted the cape to have sheen, movement and weight while being machine washable. #CosplayBuildLog
Good morning, I am thinking about these uchikake that I saw at a museum over the weekend
Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer An all-women expedition investigates an anomalous location known as Area X. Psychedelic and eerie, this sci-fi novel is hypnotic and I didn’t want to put it down, but you must like some ambiguity. I loved the movie and I loved this book. 5/5 🌺 #MarlequinnReads
Doing a quick test run of the gauntlet pieces to map the assembly out before I starting gluing everything to the glove 3D model by Vedroalmazov Printing and painting by me
The Starving Saints by Caitlin Starling Medieval horror with sapphic disasters, gore, and so many bees. Has some pacing issues in the middle that makes it a slog at points, but it picks back up in the third act. If you liked The Locked Tomb, you’ll probably like this. 4/5 🐝 #MarlequinnReads
How to Survive Camping (series) by Bonnie Quinn Originally a series of short stories on r/nosleep, it centers on the manager of a campground trying to appease both her human guests and what lurks in the woods. Fun, cozy folk horror. 3.5/5 🏕️ #MarlequinnReads
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski Let’s just say that the house has a physically impossible interior. This was a frustrating read at times due to the unconventional structure, but it was a rewarding and unique experience. Might make you feel like you’re going insane. 4/5 🏠 #MarlequinnReads
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt A story of friendship between an elderly woman who works in an aquarium and the giant pacific octopus who lives there. Not my usual kind of book, but this was so cozy and bittersweet. I’d die for Marcellus the octopus. 4/5 🐙 #MarlequinnReads
The Ladies of Grace Adieu and Other Stories by Susanna Clarke This is a collection of short fairy tales, some of which are original and others that are retellings. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it’s an enjoyable, fast read. 3/5 🧚 #MarlequinnReads
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón A gothic tale about the son of a antique bookseller in 1945 Barcelona who uncovers a mysterious book that by all accounts doesn’t exist. Moody and atmospheric with a really engaging story and lush prose. 5/5 📖 #MarlequinnReads
I got lucky with a 58% humidity day, which meant I was finally able to paint. I used a gloss black base coat and my old reliable Rustoleum Bright Coat in Chrome for that beautiful silver. #CosplayBuildLog
