Atmospheric Physics PhD, working in IT during the day, climate intervention in the evening. Centre-left, green, parent, songwriter, joiner of dots. #RejoinEU #ClimateEmergency. Edinburgh, UK. Normally FB
That'll be a Rover then. Could be nice. Any why bother with the hybrid? 🤷
Electronic computers have been a huge thing for the last 40 years. Has the UK ever had a cabinet minister for computing? 🤷 Similarly the world-wide-web, social media ... Just because LLM-based AI is passing through the peak of its hype cycle, doesn't mean it merits a cabinet minister.
When you see charts like this on battery energy density, you have to wonder why mainstream aircraft manufacturers are wasting so much time trying to make hydrogen work 🤷 www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
No, Keir Starmer definitely prefers Elmo to Binface www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...
How out of character for Farage to associate with shameless grifters and dodgy underworld types 😐 Meanwhile #ReformUK implicitly sells itself it's as the anti-corruption party. What a joke. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-poli...
Here's the calculations. All figures in £billions. Assumes zero benefit from the extra US drugs, which is obviously wrong, so net benefit from having a Labour government supporting the NHS, is a minimum value.
Keir Starmer, 8:48pm yesterday, condemning the attacks on Muslims in Edinburgh as "absolutely appalling".
Over the winter I became fascinated by these tiny birds that run in and out at the edge of the waves #SuperSeabirdSunday
If you read the actual speech, you'll see Keir Starmer was talking specifically and explicitly about the post-Brexit "Boris Wave", when the Tories panicked over the loss of EU workers. He was not attacking immigrants, he was attacking the Tories. www.gov.uk/government/s...
🤪 May fecked the country with her disastrous Brexit red-lines, when a cross-party consensus on retaining Single Market & Customs Union was there for the taking. Keir Starmer is consistently delivering on his manifesto promises, but nobody in the media notices or cares. fullfact.org/government-t...
In 2019 Corbyn's Labour had been wiped out in a general election against #LiarJohnson 🤮 Starmer's Labour holds a big majority in the House of Commons, and is using it to push through lots of major legislation, undoing the Tory mess as it goes. Meanwhile, the Tories are the ones on life support.
Rubbish. Keir Starmer has a clear plan to change the country for the better, which he and his team are ably delivering. Look at the huge progress in just 20 months in government. The media aren't interested in that though, they prefer to obsess over Westminster gossip and one bad appointment.
In that speech, Keir Starmer was not talking about historic immigration, or about refugees, he was talking specifically and explicitly about the post-Brexit "Boris Wave", when the Tories panicked about EU citizens leaving. He was not attacking immigrants, he was attacking the Tories.
Also other low-cost non-heat-pump clothes dryers will still be available
In the post linked below you said Labour did a deal with Palantir to hand over our NHS data. That is false. The NHS contract was signed by the Conservatives in 2023, and persists. There is an option to break it in 2027, and I very much hope Labour decides to use it. bsky.app/profile/save...
You said wrt Mandelson: "... and then let that someone do a deal with the utterly evil Palantir to hand over our NHS and its data" But that didn't happen. The NHS deal with the Palantir had been done by the Tories in 2023. What you said was factually incorrect and highly misleading.
With #StormDave incoming, I thought I would maintain some of my winter habits a little bit longer. So ... soup!
Who says AI is useless 🤪 "create a picture of the Trump presidential library building in the shape of a mushroom"
Trump clearly just needs a foreign war to distract from his domestic troubles, i.e. the #Trump-EpsteinFiles If people aren't talking about the #EpsteinFiles, Trump is winning. He wrongly predicted Obama would do it, now he's doing it himself.
Wow. You just called me c*nt and told me to "rot in hell", for supporting a government that is trying to reduce child poverty ... and I'm the nasty one? 🤷
Just because the media hardly talk about it, doesn't mean Labour aren't doing anything. Quite the opposite: bsky.app/profile/warr...
Opinion: It's the beginning of the end for #Tesla. The ridiculous share price appears more absurd every day. Tesla clearly isn't going to win on either robotaxis or humanoid robots. It made some good cars initially, but has blown its first-mover advantage, and its goodwill with Musk's Nazi salutes.
