Much love to @furtherecord.bsky.social for having me ease everyone in with a little opening set. Here's a bit of echo-augmented Sumer Is Icumen In, which seemed seasonally appropriate, not to mention wanting to channel the vibe of the islanders from The Wicker Man (1972) 📷 @catkin.bsky.social
I'm playing to a tent of dancing hippies in a couple of days, so I had to pull out my bass guitar pedalboard and chase down the bad connection that was bothering me. All seems good now!
Not only do these people need to stop glamourising hustle culture, they really need to speak to at least one Scottish person before thinking they've coined a new word.
I'm impressed by how little they changed the design on these things. One is 1930s (pre-war parts assembled during wartime), the other is 2010ish, and every part would be interchangeable.
Glasgow treasure! Me and Ivor were very restrained and did not drink the unopened gutter tinny.
Guitar nerdery; I like magnetic pickups on acoustic guitar - they have their own sound. But it took me a while to trust my ears and realise that I like the £30 one from a Korean company better than the pricey one from a small US company that famous people use. Musical preferences are weird!
It's been a little while (~2 years), but the rubber otter got a swift outing at Scotiacon. I should really get him out more often! I might make an alt for rubbery and other interests again, I deleted the last one a while ago but I'm starting to feel in the mood again. 📷 @rossydeer.bsky.social
Scotiacon done - lots of lovely folk who I feel like I've only just started reconnecting with after a quiet spell. And at risk of blowing my own trumpet, I'm happy at how my little music set went - I've been hesitant for years about the idea of performing solo, but actually, I know I can do it now
Just in time for it to still be a #FursuitFriday post, I've been ottering about Scotiacon with the banjo. (pic from Grockle)
With #Scotiacon upon us, come see myself and @tuftyindigo.bsky.social play! I'll be doing guitar and cittern, and singing songs about rivers, foxes, mystical hogs and absconding to the deep dark woods. We might even manage to touch on the con theme a bit. Saturday, Castle Stage, 6.30pm
Oh, apparently it was another company. But there's no way this wasn't a reference image along with the magazine cover
Post a car picture you took. (I am not a car person - I was proud of my moss crop after skipping the annual wash)
Doing some guitar tweaks today, replaced the vibrato tailpiece because the old one was cheap and giving me problems. Now I can't decide if the mismatched white tip on the new arm bothers me or not
We have returned from spending Christmas with family. I'm amazed at how well my wee dog has coped. He's 2 1/2 years old, and went through a long anxious spell in his adolescence that made it hard to go places and see people. Now he's doing much better and everyone enjoyed having him around.
You know you've stumbled upon some proper folkie nonsense when the songs include The Innocent Hare and Daddy Fox
