Update on traffic safety legislation: Tell Your State Senator to vote YES on the two amendments ahead of this week's debate. Amendments related to road safety to the omnibus Economic Development bill (S.3178): Amendment #215 allows traffic safety cameras in work zones, school zones, and designated "safety zones" within a municipality and Amendment #160 incentivizes truck drivers and companies to install truck safety features like sideguards and convex mirrors.

A huge loss to Louisa's family, friends, and the whole Boston transportation advocacy community. We must push to make streets safer for all vulnerable road users, so that tragic crashes like this can be prevented.

We are heartbroken at Louisa’s death. This preventable tragedy has deprived Boston of a fierce advocate for safe streets. Louisa’s cheerful enthusiasm and drive to make the city safer for vulnerable road users inspired everyone around her. She was an integral part of the biking and transportation community, and an inspiration to everyone lucky enough to know or work with her.

Quote from Galen Mook on The Point, CAI (NPR): We do have state law that defines e-bikes as the slower speed e-bikes but we’re also seeing these out-of-class vehicles being sold that go up to 30, 35, 40 miles an hour... which are technically, and legally, not e-bikes, but they are being marketed as e-bikes.

What we’re focusing on at MassBike is trying to clarifying what is an e-bike... and the governor has a bill out in the state house right now which would create a tiered system of micromobility.
