Yanokami - Yanokami Rei Harakami & Akiko Yano. Really great, really interesting given their two very distinct voices : ) I'm also connecting a ton of stylistic dots btwn Harakami and Naoyuki Sato.. I love when you listen to something and suddenly it gives context to other things you love
Rei Harakami - red curb Yeah this really hits. Rei Harakami is another big blind spot for me. Was blown away by hearing Unrest, but red curb takes that sound and really brings it somewhere special for me. Def excited to rinse this one some more
Smash Mouth - Smash Mouth This is for my money, the best Smash Mouth record by a longshot. Maybe it’s just cause I’m a power pop fan, but I think they really hit equilibrium here. Just super solid and refined songwriting throughout
Orbital - In Sides Shoutout to @floorbaba.bsky.social for putting me onto this. Orbital is a big blind spot for me and it spurred me to listen to a ton of their catalog (which I’m still working through). This album feels like their pinnacle & most refined version of their style
Picky Picnic - Kuru Kuru World Was recommended Picky Picnic by a friend, and while I appreciate the more lofi / zolo stylings of the first two releases, this one really supports it with more new wave production (with contributions by Pyrolator!). Riyl super weird demented kids music
Starting off with some highlights from the last month or two: Serani Poji - Ochamekan This is my standout Serani Poji release. I hadn’t heard much of them beyond selections from the Roommania OSTs, so this was a delight. I was ready to pick the Bomber Minmi EP as my fav but this album tops it
