Over 100 years ago, the 19th amendment was ratified and Tennessee made it happen. Two steps forward and one step back seems to be the way of women’s rights then and now. We must continue to fight for our rights every day. Don’t let the steps back make you lose hope. Keep fighting. ❤️🌱
Honey bees are the world’s most prolific pollinator, & we owe a lot to our busy buddies. Today, we would like to shoutout our local honey bees and beekeepers by highlighting the sweetest thing about them: honey! Buying local honey is the most direct way to help out both bees and their keepers. ❤️🌱
I was so sad to hear today about the passing of Martha Rivers Ingram. She was a force - and her impact on Nashville will be felt for generations to come. When I ran for mayor, she offered up her support and encouragement. My deepest condolences to her family.

Over the last few weeks, in anticipation of seeing The Odyssey, B has been reading me the Samuel Butler translation. We finished up the read, decided to watch the classic O Brother, Where Art Thou? (based on The Odyssey), and then took ourselves off the Belcourt for an amazing 35mm screening.

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth. On June 19, 1865, the enslaved people of Galveston, Texas, were told they had been freed. Juneteenth recognizes and celebrates that moment and reminds us of how far we’ve come BUT how much further we have to go. Happy Freedom Day, Nashville. ❤️

My heart is so full after joining so many friends and neighbors to celebrate the designation of Senator Thelma Harper Parkway. Senator Harper was a trailblazer, a mentor, and a fierce advocate. She helped clear the path for so many leaders, and her impact can still be felt across Nashville today.
