27th July 1981 Ken Barlow married Deirdre Langton on 'Coronation Street', the episode was watched by over 24 million viewers.

All Saints, Manchester, 1973. Photo includes Black Sedan record shop at 127a Oxford Rd; selling rock music albums, including imports and bootlegs. After it moved premises, 127a Oxford Rd became Pandemonium Records where the owner sometimes charged 50p admission just to browse.
The employees of Demmy betting shop turned up for work fitted out in real Ascot styles. June 1963. This branch of the betting shop chain was on Oxford Rd Station approach - in the background is where Sainsbury's is now, on the Whitworth St crossroads.

Salford forty years ago... Photographer Martin Parr photographed Betty Benjamin's ladies hairdressers in Higher Broughton. Two of the windows of the shop in 1986 were boarded up. A cut and set cost £1.80.

The Robin Hood in Stretford had a mystery fire last night, been closed for 8 years. Urmston Lane is still taped off there with police and fire still in attendance. There was an application to turn it into flats recently.
