This Canada goose looked lovely to me as it was splashing around while bathing. #BirdOfTheDay #ArtOfMotion #birds #naturephotography #birdphotography
Here is a Carolina chickadee that was banded in my yard for a muti-year study by the Smithsonian Institution. Sadly the project ended a couple years ago. #Paridae #BirdOfTheDay #naturephotography #birds
Late in the day but still a contribution to today's #BirdOfTheDay for a theme of #SummerLovin - a young blue grosbeak coming into his adult coloring #naturephotography #birds
"Oh dear, is s/he going to kiss me?" Cliff swallows taking a break from a busy time flying. #BirdOfTheDay #Triplets #naturephotography #birds
Here is a red-headed woodpecker back in January for today's #BirdOfTheDay - have a nice weekend, everyone! #ScreenFiller #birds #naturephotography
These days, not only the American crow family (one member shown here) but also fish crows visit my yard and feeders. They love the dried mealworms, grape jelly and grapes that I give them. #BirdOfTheDay #Corvidae #crows #naturephotography #birds
This hermit thrush rushing away with open wings with a meal is one of today's #SingersAndWingers - have a nice day everyone! #BirdOfTheDay #birds #naturephotography
Among the later arrivals at my home were the young summer tanagers, a wonderful example of #NewLife #BirdOfTheDay #birds #naturephotography
This great egret showed #PerfectPoise - and perhaps one of its #MomentsOfMajesty when wading in a local pond a few years ago. #BirdOfTheDay #naturephotography #birds
Don't remember if I've shared this particular photo before but it's so cute, I think a repeat is ok. A gorgeous baby chipping sparrow showing what #OpenBeaks look like. S/he is now grown up and visiting feeders. #BirdOfTheDay #birds #naturephotography
This American coot was having a nice swim and even showed its unique foot #AmongTheRipples #BirdOfTheDay #birds #naturephotography #birdphotography
This American crow apparently couldn't decide whether to look up, down or both at once #UpAndDown #BirdOfTheDay #naturephotography #birds
The killdeer at our local reservoir tend to nest on the #Rocky gravel of the driveway and parking lot. I so enjoy seeing them, especially the babies, that they are always a favorite #BirdOfTheDay #killdeer #naturephotography
The creek served as a perfect place for #BathTime for this Cooper's hawk. (And a word of appreciation to Rob and Alan for managing #BirdOfTheDay - it is such a fun daily activity and great way to see people's creativity in bird photography.) #raptor #naturephotography #hawk
My most recent #Lifer was a painted bunting in my yard at my feeders! She only stayed about 24 hours and then went on her way but she did give me a #BirdOfTheDay for sure. #birds #naturephotography
This Say's phoebe has a bit of #Orange tint so it can join in with #BirdOfTheDay #birds #naturephotography
This dicksissel #Cutie was singing away as it played #TheWaitingGame before getting some food. I waited around, too, to capture some nice moments with him. #BirdOfTheDay #birds #naturephotography
Things can get feisty at the bird feeders. Despite our ongoing drought, dearth of insects and tremendous temperatures, scenes like this are not common at the feeders, however. #BirdOfTheDay #downywoodpeckers #Ebony&Ivory #birds #naturephotography
The quality of the photo is not great but it was surprising to see the red-winged blackbird not only chase away a hawk but actually land on it! #BirdOfTheDay #WildMotion #naturephotography #birds
Don't remember if I've posted these lovely wood ducks before but they do qualify as #Quackers for #BirdOfTheDay - going out to photograph before the temperature hits 97-100F and hope I see a couple more! #birds #naturephotography
Coming to #BirdOfTheDay late today but still have a contribution - one of my beloved crows that visit the yard everyday in a moment of #QuietReflection #birds #naturephotography
One more contribution to today's #BirdOfTheDay theme of #RedBeakFeetEyes - 2 yellow-crowned night herons who surprised me by perching about 8 feet above my head last month. They were refurbishing their nest and had 5 babies who aren't having it easy now due to the drought. The babies are in photo 3.
Had to go back in archives for today's #BirdOfTheDay - this slaty-billed trogon in Costa Rica fit the bill for the theme of #RedBeakFeetEyes in my view. A reminder of what a treat it would be to go back there for a visit again. #birds #naturephotography #CostaRica
The Eastern bluebirds in my yard are now feeding their second brood. They're having a tough time finding insects for them due to ongoing drought, resorting to dried mealworms I provide. This bird at a park had better luck earlier this year. #BirdOfTheDay #TheArtOfSurvival #birds #naturephotography
I love photographing birds but also all other kinds of wildlife as well, like this gathering of Northern common water snakes in North Carolina in May. #naturephotography #nature #reptiles
This buck was hanging out with two other younger bucks (judging by their smaller antlers) at a pond next to a soccer field where we don't often see them. #mammals #white-taileddeer #naturephotography
I don't know if this was my #BestOfJune26 but it was a photo capture I enjoyed as I don't often see orchard orioles and especially not together. They had a nest in this tree. #BirdOfTheDay #birds #naturephotography
#LightAsAFeather is today's #BirdOfTheDay theme and I had a hard time finding something that fits - I think this portrait of an evening grosbeak does a little bit. 🙂 Have a nice Sunday, everyone! #birds #naturephotography
A beautiful brown-headed nuthatch with #BlueSkies in the background #BirdOfTheDay #naturephotography #birds
This lovely American goldfinch was looking rather #Rotund on a chilly January day #BirdOfTheDay #naturephotography #birds
