Mostly antiques, occasional sounds, always messing.
Found only my second ever copy of this today, alongside a beat first of a Village Thing classic. Still hoping for a Chris Thompson to show up one day.
Today I learned about the existence of a Kraftwerk boot wherein shoddy AI has rendered all band members as a sort-of techno JD Vance gangbang.
Does anyone else own this LP and get hit with a seismic dose of nostalgia when playing it? PD James Black Tower, Clannad’s ‘Robin’, Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, Chi Mai…The sounds wafting in from the TV room when you were meant to be in bed for school the next day.
Went to my first gig in years. Lovely @alisoncotton.bsky.social tonight.
I missed about 10 years of potential Terry Riley appreciation due to the Teletubbies sleeve.
I know @andrewmale.bsky.social will agree with me on this one…criminally underrated small press British folk that recalls Lal Waterson’s darker songs for Bright Phoebus. Stone Circles, Celtic mysticism and a Tim Buckley cover that doesn’t suck.
I think I make this my fourth or fifth copy, but nice to finally grab a red label in pristine nick. A proper old fashioned ‘why you get up early for a boot sale’ morning.

The records alone can sell for a couple of hundred a piece and a complete set of the magazines sold for over 5 grand in Bonhams, but don’t let that distract from what are completely magical artefacts - now almost 60 years old but still oddly futuristic and forward-thinking.
It included several, often unique, improvisational scores including notation dictated by random bullet holes fired into sheets and my personal favourite, FUR MUSIC (randomised clumps of fur glued to the page)
Was lucky enough to have in my possession a bundle of ‘Source’ magazines (temporarily) - a late 60s treatise on avant garde music complete with 10inch records including the first recording of Lucier’s “I am sitting in a room”
The joys of getting records out of storage. Born 9 years and an ocean apart, but made their debut on the same indie label 90+ years later.
The sun is about to rise over Cerne Abbas and the Ooser is undoubtedly already marching up the hill. I should be there (in my usual spot) but am laid low, listening to Holiday Rap by Miker G and MC Sven in an attempt to rouse myself. Memories of honey beer and dew dampening my arse. Happy May Day🌞
Lewes is the one place you could leave a bunch of (admittedly shabby) Fairport pink labels for free outside your house and they’ll still be there 48hrs later.
Point being, it’s always deeply weird looking through someone’s collection when they’re no longer here, and kinda wishing they were. There’s so much I want to ask him. Like what these reel 2 reel tapes of the legendary Black Mountain College are all about, or the field recordings of surbiton trains.
He released a version of George Brecht’s ‘Water Yam’ performance cards in the 70s - I bought one of the dead stock and am totally in awe of it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_Y...
Worlds worst flip-through. I found out a neighbour who passed away last year was on the fringes of the Fluxus group. I was invited to buy his LP collection and was blown away by how our tastes converged, right down to the DVDs of The Clangers next to Kenneth Anger. Currently hauling from the van:
