Ahold Delhaize claims climate leadership, but our Methane Action Tracker shows a huge gap. Its agriculture emissions actually went UP 5%, major US brands are excluded from plant-based targets, & there's no methane reduction plan. Learn more: https://ow.ly/E3uq50Zwpuv
We decided to join McDonald's in Las Vegas as it celebrated its biennial Worldwide Convention. Will McDonald's leadership choose the planet over short-term profits? Learn more: https://mightyearth.org/article/mcdonalds-climate-commitments-cooked/
Climate change is impacting global food systems, so why aren’t supermarkets taking it more seriously? Especially US supermarkets like Kroger, Costco, Walmart, Albertsons, and Publix which are performing worse than European counterparts at tackling superheating methane emissions.
Who decides what’s on your plate? Supermarkets decide what's on shelves, what's promoted, what's affordable, and what's visible. That means they can support climate-friendly, deforestation-free foods. The question isn't whether supermarkets have influence. It's whether they'll use it. 🌱
McDonald's has a climate impact equivalent to 16 coal fired power plants. “Do better. Change” sums up what we heard from people on the streets of Las Vegas during McDonald’s biennial Worldwide Convention. 👉 mightyearth.org/mcdonalds
Join us for a casual networking event with drinks & canapes at London Climate Action Week! Alongside photos & short films, hear from Indigenous campaigners from Brazil & Indonesia. RSVP ➡️ https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/stories-from-the-deforestation-front-mighty-earth-at-lcaw-tickets-1991207708859
McDonald's won't engage with us. So we showed up at its Vegas convention with the McBurn & Burp Award. We're asking for: global plant-based options, methane action, and deforestation-free meals. It’s time to deliver. mightyearth.org/mcdonalds
McDonald's beef and soy suppliers are linked to deforestation from the Amazon to Australia. We went to the streets of Las Vegas during McDonald’s Worldwide Convention to ask people how they feel about it.👉 mightyearth.org/mcdonalds
McDonald's keeps ignoring our message. So, we drove it straight to the door at its Worldwide Convention in Las Vegas. More plants, less meat on menus. Reduce methane. Eliminate deforestation. 👉 Learn more: https://mightyearth.org/mcdonalds/
We don't want McDonalds to leave this week’s Worldwide Convention empty-handed. We’re here to present leadership with the ultimate recognition of its climate and nature failure: The McBurn & Burp Award 🏆 Learn more: https://mightyearth.org/mcdonalds/
In our new report, Shelved Again: Supermarkets’ Missing Action on Methane, we ranked 20 of the world’s largest supermarkets on methane action and commitments and found that the sector is still lacking ambition – and the US is still lagging behind Europe.
Today, 34 organisations from across the globe are releasing a joint statement ahead of the Illicit Finance Summit. We're calling for stronger rules, greater transparency, and real accountability in the gold trade. Read our priorities: https://tinyurl.com/8c6r84pu
For this US #EarthDay, Mighty Earth is calling on supermarkets to pull the “climate emergency brake” by transparently reducing methane emissions!
Today is #WorldRewildingDay! In the Northeast US, a movement is building around the return of catamounts, an iconic native species that helped shape the region’s forests for thousands of years. They’ve been missing since 1881, but their story isn’t over. Join us: https://www.bringcatamountshome.org/
WATCH: More diggers, more destruction. Indonesia's Food & Energy Estates - the state-led industrial clearing of rainforests, grasslands and wetlands in South Papua - is set to be the world's largest deforestation project. Indigenous communities want their land and their peaceful way of life back.
"We are warrior women, fighters and defenders of the Amazon & of the Tapajós River." Yesterday, Indigenous warriors occupied Cargill's grain barges in the Amazon. The expansion of export infrastructure is directly connected to global demand for soy used in animal feed & industrial agriculture.
Climate change = even higher food prices. Time for grocery stores, like Ahold Delhaize (and its brands Stop & Shop, Hannaford, Food Lion, and Giant) to start taking their climate impact seriously. Read more ➡️ mightyearth.org/StopMethane

In steel manufacturing, U.S. companies are abandoning decarbonization plans even as foreign competitors invest heavily in cleaner production. https://mightyearth.org/article/ceo-note-degooberizing-american-manufacturing/
US groceries owned by Ahold Delhaize, like Stop & Shop, Food Lion, and Giant, have enormous methane footprints from meat & dairy,... yet they won't admit it.! Why are these groceries masking their massive methane footprint? No one knows. ➡️ mightyearth.org/StopMethane
Grocery giant Ahold Delhaize says its “road to net-zero is unclear.” Here are some first steps: ensure your US brands, like Stop & Shop, Giant, and Food Lion, are doing their part to reduce methane emissions. Read more here: https://mightyearth.org/StopMethane/
What do Stop & Shop, Food Lion, and Giant all have in common? These groceries are doing almost nothing to reduce methane emissions—even though their parent company, Ahold Delhaize, has committed to net-zero. Read our report to learn more. ➡️ http://mightyearth.org/StopMethane/
“It’s hard to justify this project from any perspective... environmental & the wellbeing of local communities.” Mighty Earth themightyglenn.bsky.social quoted in Financial Times on the state-backed, military-led deforestation fast tracked on Papua, Indonesia to develop rice & sugarcane plantations.
WANTED: Actual progress in reducing methane and greenhouse gas emissions from Ahold Delhaize’s US brands. These US groceries haven’t released a credible plan to reduce emissions! ➡️ https://mightyearth.org/StopMethane/
Methane emissions are 86x powerful than CO2 over 20 years. It’s time for Ahold Delhaize USA to unmask their methane emissions and come up with a plan to reduce them. So we wanted to ensure we unmasked the truth right by the company’s headquarters. ➡️ https://mightyearth.org/StopMethane/
Missing from Stop & Shop, Food Lion, and Giant: climate plans. Despite climate commitments from the parent company, Ahold Delhaize, these US brands have done almost nothing to reduce methane or other emissions. https://mightyearth.org/StopMethane
“The agreement reached between the European Parliament and the Council on the EUDR is a massive blow and an alarming betrayal of the EU’s own promise to stop deforestation. This is a profound failure of leadership.” - Isabel Fernández Cruz, Senior Advisor, @mightyearth.org
