A 40-tonne HGV climbing 1,000m requires ~109 kWh just to gain height (E = mgh). Diesel burns fuel to climb and dissipates that energy as heat on descent. A battery-electric truck can recover most of that energy through regenerative braking. Hills aren’t the problem people think they are.
