On England’s most famous west-facing, east coast beach, for the #eclipse. #Norfolk #SunnyHunny
Hired a super-agent to engineer a move away. Fair enough, but enough of the ‘I’ll always be a Geordie’ nonsense. Nevertheless, thanks and good luck. #NUFC ⚫️⚪️
We knew it was coming, but devastating news about King Kevin Keegan. An absolute legend and footballing hero of mine. What he did as a player and as a manager for #NUFC will never be forgotten.
He now also has a marked grave as well as his name still being on the wall to the missing at VC Corner. And I took his relative to visit him for the first time, this afternoon. A moment I won’t forget, and I’m sure neither will he. 4/4 #FWW #WW1 #SGWT #Australia
However, quick research revealed he was one of the 250 soldiers discovered in a mass grave in the edge of Pheasant Wood, in 2009. He was identified through DNA and his body reinterred at the newly built Fromelles (Pheasant Wood) #CWGC Cemetery. #FWW #WW1 #SGWT #Australia 3/4
The male client’s Gt Grandfather supported the attack as part of 10th AFA Bde (4th Div). But, it transpired that another relative also fought here, with 30th AIF. He was killed on 20th July & thought to have no known grave. As such, his name is on the wall to the missing at VC Corner CWGC. 2/4
Remarkable day guiding this Australian couple around the Western Front on behalf of @sophie1wwtours.bsky.social. This afternoon, I took them to Fromelles, where the Australian 5th Division went into action on 19th & 20th July 1916. 1/4 #FWW #WW1 #SGWT #Australia
In and around Villers-Bretonneux, today, following in the footsteps of two ancestors of these Australian clients, on behalf of @sophie1wwtours.bsky.social. Both men - one an artilleryman in 4th AIF Div, the other a M.O. in 3rd AIF Div - survived the war. #FWW #WW1 #SGWT #Australia
Final couple of days showing these clients around the Ypres Salient, including where their ancestor saw action at the Battle of Messines and 3rd #Ypres. And, of course, brought to a conclusion at the Menin Gate, last night. @sophie1wwtours.bsky.social #FWW #WW1 #SGWT
An honour to lead this family to the graveside of their ancestor, Pte Charlie Adams. Saw action with the 19th London Regt on the Somme in 1916; then at Messines and 3rd Ypres, before he was wounded, captured and died during the German Spring Offensive. @sophie1wwtours.bsky.social #SGWT #WW1 #FWW
Family pilgrimage day 1. Followed in the footsteps of three men, each one of whom became casualties of the #FWW. Began the day at High Wood, then visited sites at Ginchy, Flers, Holnon Wood and Arras, before returning to finish the day at Thiepval. @sophie1wwtours.bsky.social #WW1 #SGWT
Beginning a 5-day tour for @sophie1wwtours.bsky.social, following in the #FWW footsteps of 3 ancestors of this 3-generational family on the Western Front. After a full day’s travelling, where better to start than with a brief introduction to the #Somme? The pilgrimage begins today. #WW1 #SGWT
Watching the early-morning lobster catch returning to Stonehaven harbour. #Stonehaven #Scotland
My first visit to the National Memorial Arboretum, today. An eclectic collection of memorials, for sure, some more impactive than others. Overall, I’m glad I visited.
What will undoubtedly prove to be an important milestone on our journey upwards. Nothing to be disillusioned by: games like this happen. I’ve loved (almost) every minute of our Champions League experience, this year, and look forward to seeing us back, better & stronger, soon. #NUFC ⚫️⚪️
Hey, BBC Sport, give it a rest, eh? Feels like a deliberate attempt to unsettle players before the summer, to me 🤷🏻♂️. #NUFC
110 years ago today, German soldiers walked in to and captured the ‘jewel in France’s defensive crown’, Fort Douaumont. Largely, it was a major propaganda coup for the Germans, but would cost an awful lot of French blood to try and recapture it over the next 8 mos. #Verdun110 #FWW #WW1 #gwg #SGWT
