This just arrived in my inbox. I don't know why I'm on their mailing list, but here, have a look at our Sheriff ENTIRELY MISSING THE POINT that they are collaborating with *Flock's misuse of their own system*. It's never been about what local jurisdictions are doing directly! 🤦♀️🤷♀️
Speaking of that yearbook page: it was a real gut punch to see Tommy jokingly signing his own yearbook and wishing himself luck... "I'll need it." He was a B-26 pilot; survived 60+ bombing runs before, on, and after DDay - and died in a training flight crash in FL in early 1945. He was 20.
Digging into my gf's brother's yearbook (Tommy, Annapolis HS, '42) & looking up the other class officers. In 1950, Martha corrected "roommate" to "partner". In 2006, she was survived by a "friend and long time companion". She worked for the fed gov't for 30 years. Marriage was not an option for her.
Yes. As a Californian (where things are relatively calm so far this year) I'm impressed with the utter willful disregard of the fact that fires for to climate change is apparently now normal for the US? Here's our current fire map. Headlines, what?
Few years back Charm City Meadworks made a 'Mead-lört', and I liked it, but it wasn't full strength. untappd.com/b/charm-city...
This. Please stop thinking all those MAGA folks are isolated & uninformed somewhere in a vast Middle America wasteland. They're definitely not, and that place doesn't exist. (Source: www.census.gov/library/stor...)
Does anyone want to help me understand WTF this is for, exactly? It really feels like something that ought to maybe be 'for staff use only', and not posted in the restroom of an emergency room??
Because polls consistently show that the majority want the govt to provide fewer benefits? See pic for a graphic representation. Smaller govt. Less public assistance. Much smaller definition of "in need" & yes, if pushed, you'll find that the ones "in need" are the ones "like them". This isn't new?
I'm very curious about this also - did he just see the NY display was going to be 85,000 and say "I want it 10x as big"?
Cheers! This stuff is the consistency of a milkshake. "Berliner-style Weisse Beer with Blueberries, Maple Syrup and Natural Flavors. Real Fruit Added After Brewing"! Itasca, IL www.instagram.com/p/DXkZ20EEo2...
They zoomed in to better cover the half that was visible. They were cycling through camera views, one was extremely low res, one had a weird grid across it, and one was very far away. "Spectacular" it was not. But hey, happy birthday America! *raises toast of blueberry pancake flavored beer*

Today, from the You Can't Make This Shit Up files, AKA Nextdoor: (This is creepy as shit, and as someone whose intentions are occasionally misunderstood by neurotypical strangers, well, fuck this guy. (Yes, it's a male name I've redacted, but you knew that, right?!))
Louisville Daily Courier, 24 Jul 1868, re: the passing of the 14th Amendment; there are reasons white supremacists want this undone. As everyone else is saying, the idea that 4 of 9 Justices *who absolutely know this history* are willing to undo it is horrifying.
You know what seems to be fucking with Google AI results as much as anything else? Clickbait headlines. Example: That first Healthline post over there that it APPEARS to be referencing, (www.healthline.com/health/full-...) actual says "An illusory correlation is a type of thinking error."
Bit of family history arrived in the mail today from my brother, who is sorting through Mom's things. This is an amazing surprise & helps me pin down the date of my family's arrival in Maryland from Brooklyn a little more, too. (Cc @loopmovie.bsky.social Our John L, not your John L... LOL)
Also: I need you to meet my family member John Andrew Mitchell, b. 1815 in Dundee, Scotland, d. 1902 in Oregon, US, living in NY, NJ, WI and NE in-between. These are excerpts from "That You May Know" as told by his daughter to her descendants. You can't tell me this man wasn't neurodiverse. LOL
Good grief. Garbled indeed. The actual situation, so far as anyone can seem to figure it:
