Speaking of that yearbook page: it was a real gut punch to see Tommy jokingly signing his own yearbook and wishing himself luck... "I'll need it." He was a B-26 pilot; survived 60+ bombing runs before, on, and after DDay - and died in a training flight crash in FL in early 1945. He was 20.

Digging into my gf's brother's yearbook (Tommy, Annapolis HS, '42) & looking up the other class officers. In 1950, Martha corrected "roommate" to "partner". In 2006, she was survived by a "friend and long time companion". She worked for the fed gov't for 30 years. Marriage was not an option for her.

I found a universal graph:

A bar graph of the years 1984-85 through 2024-25. The side of the graph is unlabeled other than the numbers 0 through 15. The bars get generally higher every year until 2019-20, which is shorter. The bar for 2020-21 is nonexistent. The bar for 2021-22 is half the size of the one for 2019-20, and then in 2022-23 and onward seem to have generally returned to the previous trending upward pattern. There is no context. (There's also a watermark reading "Deadline" that is cut off after "Dead")

Because polls consistently show that the majority want the govt to provide fewer benefits? See pic for a graphic representation. Smaller govt. Less public assistance. Much smaller definition of "in need" & yes, if pushed, you'll find that the ones "in need" are the ones "like them". This isn't new?

You know what seems to be fucking with Google AI results as much as anything else? Clickbait headlines. Example: That first Healthline post over there that it APPEARS to be referencing, (www.healthline.com/health/full-...) actual says "An illusory correlation is a type of thinking error."

The current Google search result for "why is the full moon so powerful" which regurgitates (and highlights) the answer "it represents the peak of the lunar cycle, traditionally believed to amplify existing physical, emotional and spiritual states" while listing references to the left including a healthline post with the headline "How Does a Full Moon Affect Our Physical and Mental Well-Being?"
