A lovely piece of granite with a large quartz inclusion and a bit of (I think) schist on the bottom. Collected from my ranch near Enchanted Rock in Texas.
I used practicing new skills for free motion quilting as an excuse to make a dolly blanket for my 6 year old neighbor. I’m very happy with how it turned out!
This was my grandmother’s Christmas cactus. When she passed in 1987, my mom took it and I inherited it about 15 years later. It blooms on special occasions, like the day my son was born and my wedding anniversary. It brings me joy and memories!
I’m not going to be able to make it to the No Kings protest this afternoon, but I’m still making my sign.

#BirdOfTheDay is any bird with grey in their plumage. Here’s my offering, a mourning dove sitting on her nest. A wee baby peeks out from under her breast.
I don’t ordinarily post pics of my backside, but somekitty snuggled under the covers with my yesterday, and that deserves an exception.
So, I forgot my fork for lunch yesterday. But you know what I *didn’t* forget? My crochet stuff!
Thank you! I did indeed need that. In return, here is a fluffed-up lil Texas mockingbird weathering the cold yesterday.
Sexy feet pic! Any funds raised from this will go to support her catnip addiction and our local no-kill animal shelter.
My fam has a long history of serving in the military, all the way back to serving under Gen George Washington. We fight kings, we fight tyrants, we fight fascists. I stand with the original antifa.
I’m fighting fascism with joy today. Can’t face the news, so I’m looking within. I’ll focus on my art—working on a quilt for my great-nephew and a crochet sweater for my sister I will play with the dog and nap with the cat in my lap. I will cook for people I love.
Mine is a medium dog who shines with joy when he is de-fluffing one of his stuffies. The inconvenience is when I then have to spend 36 minutes picking up all the fluff that turned the living room into a winter wonderland.
Lean into it. Wear a shirt or cap that screams your position, like the one I’m wearing today:
Phoebe is training the foster kittens in the proper technique of squirrel watching. As Head Cat, she understands the importance of teaching the young ones to keep an eye on Those Damn Squirrels. #caturday
Texas Hill Country sunset at my favorite place on earth. The ground is still saturated from the July 4 flooding rains, but the grass is a shade of green rarely seen in August.
I missed #caturday so here’s Phoebe. She is not late for last week, nor early for this weekend. She is perfectly on time, as she is perfect in all other ways. Here she is begrudgingly sharing her tower nest with an impertinent foster kitten named Ham. He is unbothered by his impertinence.
Hi from the other end of TX21! I posted elsewhere that they packed and cracked our blue votes by taking a sliver from each of the densely populated cities of Austin and San Antonio and a wide swath of red rural Texas to guarantee Roy’s seat.
…and bunnies, and very nice mushrooms. As close to touching grass as one can get, digitally speaking, and a needed respite between the doom of national and geopolitical news. Here’s my contribution:
I support my trans and queer brothers and sisters every day. They are in danger, and shouldn’t be. We need to fight back. Celebrating Pride Month is a small but important first step.
I don’t know why it’s different for children born overseas to military US citizens, but it is. I grabbed these screen shots from uscis.gov.
Just over a month ago, we, too, lost our beloved doggo Atlas to canine lymphoma. It hit fast and hard, less than 2 weeks between diagnosis and crossing the rainbow bridge. My heart is with you. 💔
