Here she is the day I brought her home. She had just arrived at the shelter and was only 13 weeks old. Until she finished her vaccine series, I carried her around Brooklyn under my arm like a very wiggly football.

Ok y'all I expect this to be polarizing. Basic pizza crust; rhubarb and wild strawberry chutney; soft-ripened goat cheese; and sugar snap peas. Sesame seeds on the outer crust, which I do with all my pizzas.

Dune's preferred summer afternoon nap spot.

A very large, very fluffy long-haired cat the color of a gently toasted marshmallow is sleeping on his back in the middle of a living room floor. Whisps of hair undulate gently in the breeze of the air conditioner. His two front paws are tucked under his chin as he snoozes, and his tail is stretched out straight out between his fluffy back legs.

I moved one of my bird feeders to outside the front door, and the cats are obsessed. Copper keeps "stalking" the birds and then peeking up over the bottom of the storm door.

honestly is there a cuter plant

A spritely little wood sorrel plant with its yellow flowers closed tightly in the afternoon heat. The bright green leaves are made up of three distinctly heart-shaped segments. This wood sorrel is growing up inside of a clump of rudbeckia (Black-Eyed Susan) with long, dark green serrated leaves.

Some blooms for you

A newly opened tickseed (coreopsis) flower, bright yellow a rich orange-yellow center and slender green leaves. There are dozens of buds about to open.

Three tiny wild strawberry blossoms with bright white petals and sunny yellow centers. One blossom has dropped all but one petal and will hopefully soon grow into a tiny sweet strawberry.

My cattle dog mix Rye has taken my spot in bed while I got up to the bathroom. Somehow she has tucked herself into a little nest in the covers, which encircle her entirely except for her head, which is resting on a pile of comforter.

Here's Mama with her babies. Mama was a neighborhood barn cat who managed to evade the local TNR volunteers and instead gave birth to four kittens in a conveniently empty cardboard box in my parents' garage in 2012.
