Software developer, astronomy enthusiast, puzzle enjoyer. Some hobby code: and my playground site: The purple icon thing was created with the "Number Spirals" page, the dinosaur is my drawing.
I was pretty enthralled with this one in Auckland on the volcano trail (can't remember the real name) in front of (I think) the military museum. It was like nothing I'd ever seen
Bought based on your cover alone :) I went deep on number spirals a while back and it's become a fun pastime.
Got the correct answer twice then changed the query to “who sang the national anthem at the nba finals game tonight” and got the bad answer. Just insane that we just shrug our collective shoulders at this shit
Another mesmerizing one, you get endless subtly different effect just by changing the starting theta and phi angles - I think this one was originally 67 and 76. We are seeing the shape looking straight down onto the XY plane, when rotated you find that it is a hockey-puck shaped disk.
I think my mental scars from this are worse than internet brain poisoning - I can't go back
I've become re-obsessed with my "number spirals" app (no AI! Just simple math), check out this one, link to explore yourself in alt text:
post the best picture you have ever taken of your pet (if you feel like it):
Just yesterday, with the latest greatest ChatGPT model, was steaming along on a complex bit of threading code when it dawned on me that the damn thing made a bad inference, and the process of proving it negated all of my time savings. The tech is fundamentally prone to error, and always will be.
