Second, my new Millennium Edition Charmera showed up. I know, I know. I needed a second Charmera about as badly as I needed the first one. I’m a sucker! But damn, they are cute and almost no other camera I have generates as much interest when I take it out and use it in public. People have questions
I woke up this morning understandably down, but the universe threw me a couple of softballs to cheer me up a bit. First, looks like a photo from my new #Lomography account has been chosen as photo of the day for 7/20. That was a happy surprise!
I made some 5x7 #cyanotypes yesterday. I experimented with lace and botanicals and using 120 negatives. I liked the plain negatives the best. Made me wish I had some larger format negatives, but these can be cut down to make some cute little cards.
I have exactly one soccer-related photo, and it was taken at the neighborhood elementary school pitch, not a World Cup match.
I finally got excited about photos I took on the last day of class — ones I took for myself rather than for an assignment. I’m looking forward to scanning to see how the entire roll turned out, but here is the one #darkroom print I made of the Bull Creek Bridge, a Civil-War era structure on campus.
Got this incredible concertina print accompanied by a lovely note from @analoguelass.bsky.social’s typewriter for this month’s #postcardsfromafar. The print is now sitting on a shelf in my living room where I can admire it every day. What a treasure!
First effort at a #cyanotype. Did a second one today, too, but forgot to get a picture of it before I turned it in.
The neck fan made the #guerilladarkroom tolerable today. Got some usable #prints for my final project. Two I know the instructor will like. The other two she will probably kick back and ask me to do again. She likes things with more contrast than I do, I think. #Blog entry to come once these dry.
Headed into the #guerilladarkroom today for a printing session. Working on the final project for my photography course. The pink thing sitting on the cart is my neck fan, a way to get some air moving around my face in the small, still, unventilated space. It is cooler today but will still hit 90.
We went out to lunch for the first time since my hubby’s knee surgery, and all he wanted was a good margarita. The one he got was NOT good. I told him I would make sure he got one, so here we go. I’m a halfway decent bartender even though I don’t drink these days.

I’ve got more than a few cameras that qualify for the #shittycamerachallenge & since today I had on my Official T-shirt, I decided it was a good time to trot out a couple of them & show them off, though I haven’t had much of a chance to get out and take pictures (or much inclination in this heat).
Raccoons are a rare sight for us. We regularly see deer, fox, rabbit, turtles, chipmunks, all manner of birds, but seldom raccoons. Probably because they tend towards the nocturnal. This one looks young and skinny. Probably hungry and scavenging fallen birdseed.
Baltimore County has the Red Cube in Towson, belonging to the Department of Public Safety.

Went to a yard sale this morning, and they had done something quite clever called “blind date with a book.” They took hardcover novels, wrapped them intricately in brown kraft paper, labeled them with the genre and some general descriptors, and filled the pockets in the wrapping with treats. $15.
I don’t often post iPhone snaps, but I got a couple of nice ones at yesterday’s #ballet shoot. Miranda is such a wonderful model.

Accompanied @rockstarballet.bsky.social on another #ballet shoot yesterday. Did some B&W headshots of the young dancer for a portrait assignment for my class. Will scan those & see what I’ve got before getting in the darkroom and printing. In the meantime, here are a couple of #Instax photos I got.

I was so busy yesterday I didn’t get to vote in this one. Had I, I would have voted with this shot I took last fall with my Pentax.
Made a #photogram in class today. Was fun, even though my teacher made me redo it like four times.
Please do not kill yourself, not as long as these creatures exist in the world and you might actually see one someday. Also, fuck kids. They’re awful.
