New feature coming soon to OscarWatch: if you set up your account with the desktop application, when you submit satellite status reports in the app, it will automatically go to AMSAT Status as well as the internal system oscarwatch.org/status
OscarWatch provides additional satellite status notifications, helping operators maximise their operating time.
OscarWatch Tracker v0.9.4 is out! 🛰️ ➡️ Windows ARM64 build ➡️ New Pass Elevation Timeline chart ➡️ Next-orbit: faded ground track overlay view ➡️ Fixed frequency "bleed over" when switching satellites Update here: github.com/magicbug/Osc...
Spurred on by Dave G4DPZ, OscarWatch will soon have a pass elevation timeline view :)
Cool to see OscarWatch Tracker got a big mention in this month's Practical Wireless.
DXChrono Desktop v1.4.0 is out now! 🛰️📻 Massive Raspberry Pi performance improvement, added thicker map lines, watch-list audio alerts, and cleaner layout settings. Find out more at desktop.dxchrono.com
A little break from coding to do something away from the screen made 3 jars of rhubarb jam
Bit more work done this morning on QSO Logbook for OscarWatch, just visual improvements and caught a few bugs that needed to be dealt with. It will be in the next stable release.
I wasn't going to, but OscarWatch now has a very simple QSO logbook system that exports valid ADIF for logbooks and LoTW. (Syncs to Cloudlog.) I can see this helping newcomers and those on dxpedition-style trips who need quick QSO entry.
That's not to say there won't be a release next week, the changelog is already growing :-)
No DXChrono Desktop update this week. However, the Special Event Mode was excellent for use during the last couple of weekends, operating as GB26KDR. No idea what it is? Find out more at desktop.dxchrono.com
Very successful couple of weekends operating for the Grampian Hilltoppers at Dufftown Railway Station for the international museums weekends as GB26KDR Total QSOs: 457 New Countries: 49 New Gridsquares: 190 Unique Callsigns: 403
OscarWatch Tracker v0.8.14 is out now! 🛰️ Includes a new Pass Radar Gallery feature with screenshot export, Hamlib-style rigctl TCP support for SDR applications, expanded Doppler logging, and VFO band-swapping fixes. Grab it now at github.com/magicbug/Osc...
Yesterday, Charlie GM1TGY and I went over to Dufftown Railway Station to set up the 40m dipole and comet-trapped dipole for the weekend. Also installed the new hut screen to run DXChrono Desktop. Just about ready for GB26KDR operating!
Bank Holiday Monday in Scotland felt odd not hammering away on OscarWatch, but I did get a few visual bugs sorted out; I am feeling super happy with it now. github.com/magicbug/Osc...
OscarWatch Lead Doppler Function: near TCA, range rate changes fast - CAT lags behind. Lead ramps in only on the steep middle, not AOS/LOS (50ms cap). Grey dot = on, amber = leading. One RX offset tweak; the rest of the pass tracks. 🛰️
I have added hams.at support into OscarWatch, and if you use Cloudlog for logging, it can automatically check if the grids are needed or not :p
If anyone does want to play with OscarWatch Tracker, the full code is public at github.com/magicbug/Osc... and binary files for all operating systems at github.com/magicbug/Osc...
