A shy smile blossomed on Jayce’s face. One of the real ones that was not so easily earned. “Yeah?”

“Yes.” Viktor answered definitively.

Jayce looked back at him utterly enamored, and Viktor felt he must be making the same expression. Jayce’s gaze flicked down, down to Viktor’s mouth, he licked his lips. Viktor’s not sure who moved first, but they collided with each other. A kiss no longer born of long awaited need, but of tentative exploration. Slowly Jayce deepened the kiss, pushing his way forward with a strong grip on his waist. Holding him in place as his tongue slid against his own, massaging and tasting everything.

Oh, and like everything Jayce did, he poured himself into his passions, and to be on the receiving end was as thrilling as he always imagined.

Jayce’s hands clutched at him, moving up his person, touching chest and neck, until Viktor’s cheeks were being delicately cupped by those hands. Held so reverently, so gently between under those palms.

Jayce took his time, slow exploration paired with brief periods of sweet adoration in the form of pecks and licks along his lips and cheekbones. Viktor could scarcely keep up, but that was the point. Held in place and cherished, in the way that Jayce wanted to touch him. This was his worship.

Slowly Jayce pulled himself away. Eyes half lidded and mouth swollen and slick, looking drunk on the taste of him. He smiled like a sunrise, warmth and light spreading over his face as he gazed up at him.

Viktor couldn’t help but smile, “You know…now that I have had a taste. I think I would like more… If you don’t mind.”

Jayce let his hands run down Viktor’s chest. A smile playing at his lips, “I think I would like that too.”

It was quiet.

Absurdly, stupidly so. The air, thick with tension, despite its occupants. Two people who should have been bantering, inventing, thriving together… reduced to two people in a small room who both did not want to be the first to break the silence. The only sound was Viktor’s pen, scraping across the parchment like a rake on cement.

It was his own fault of course.

He had been caught up in the euphoria of their work, of Jayce’s hands on his lower back, to go ahead and say something stupid. Say the quiet part out loud.

’You know you could touch a bit more if you like, I won't mind.’

Jayce had immediately retreated. Embarrassed and self conscious. Looking away as if Viktor were some stranger. He tried to laugh it off, as if what Viktor said was a joke, but the violent rejection did not make Viktor want to play along.

’Jayce, it was only—‘

’No, sorry. I didn’t mean—‘

They stepped on each other's sentences. Out of sync in a way he rarely felt. Jayce turned away from him, he didn’t blush easily, but Viktor knew him well enough.

‘My apologies for assuming.’ He said feeling foolish. ‘Please forget about it.’

He tried to smile, to show there were no hard feelings, but it felt stiff and unnatural. Jayce nodded just as stiffly, unable to look him in the eyes.

The both mumbled some excuse that was safe and bland to let them retreat to their desks. Which is how they ended up where they were now. Two hours had gone by in near silence.

Viktor tried to work, only to read the same sentences over and over. Sketching geometry in the margins of his notes. Replaying the scenario like a skipping record in his head. He should apologize again. Let Jayce know it was a momentary lapse of judgement. He wouldn’t let these pesky feelings interfere with their work.

Even….even if he would have swore he saw something in Jayce’s eyes too.

He should just do it, turn around. Tell him they’ll be fine, that it was just-

“Um,” Jayce’s voice carried across the room, beating him to the punch, “Viktor?”

Viktor looked back to see Jayce half turned to him, watching him with wariness.

He tried to keep his voice level as he answered, “Yes, Jayce?”

“When you…I mean, what you said before? Did you mean that?” His voice was so hesitant. A far cry from his partner who spoke so confidently and passionately to rooms full of important people.

“I, em…well, I suppose I did.”

Across the room there was no reaction. Jayce was as still as a statue. Holding his gaze. At least now he could apologize with an attentive audience.

“Jayce, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. I just spoke without thinking, truly.”

Jayce licked his lips, quick and deliberate, not breaking eye contact. “But you would…let me touch you more?”

It was such a hesitant question, Viktor had trouble understanding it at first. Jayce wanted to know... if Viktor would let him touch him? But he...

Without thinking he got up from his chair. The sudden movement caused Jayce to spin around facing him as he walked over. Looking up at him with a mix of fear and trepidation as he got closer.

Viktor had no plan aside from letting Jayce know, yes, he very much did want to be touched by him, and depending on his reaction, do some touching of his own. He stood in front of him, and slowly took a step to straddle Jayce’s knee between his legs.

Jayce’s eyes flicked between Viktor’s face and legs. Back and forth, trying to decide what to do. Neither reaching out, or pushing him away. He looked absolutely terrified.

“Jayce, are you alright?” Viktor said gently. Jayce gave a very tight nod.

Frankly he was a bit nervous as well, but this fleeting moment might never come again. A chance to tip the scales in his favor, towards what he feels they’ve been circling around for weeks. Always hopeful but never sure.

Jayce’s hand moved ever so slightly, twitching, and Viktor grabbed it. Light enough that Jayce could have pulled away at any time. But, Jayce let his hand be guided, up and up, until Viktor placed it on his thigh.

Once there Jayce’s warmth bled into him. His fingers flexing into his muscle, a tentative, worried, massage.

“That’s it,” Viktor said in what he hoped was an encouraging whisper, “that feels good.”

Jayce gave a flicker of a smile, before settling back into deep concentration.

Viktor took another step forward, setting aside his cane, and settling himself on Jayce's thigh. Surely Jayce wouldn’t mind that.

He was rewarded with Jayce moving his shaking hand further up Viktor’s thigh. He responded in kind by moving his own hand up Jayce’s chest. He was warm and lean, his vest stretched so tightly over his form. God what he wouldn’t give to touch the skin beneath.

Jayce’s breath stuttered at his touch, but his eyes remained downcast as he concentrated on Viktor’s body. His other hand began to move as well. His other palm raised to rest on his waist, gaining more confidence as he squeezed him in appreciation.

As tentative as his movements were, he was still doing them. Still reaching out and keeping him close. That gave Viktor hope.

“Here, let me make you more comfortable.” He said, now going for Jayce’s buttons.

One by one they popped off, the tension across his broad chest doing most of the work for him. He pushed the cloth aside, letting his fingers trail across the thin linen of his shirt.

Jayce melted at the touch, his expression finally breaking into one of almost pained yearning. His hands gripping him tighter, his breathing more erratic. He opened his plush lips only to let out a small keening whine.

There was no doubt now that Jayce wanted him, and he wasn’t going to waste another second denying him.

Viktor started popping off his shirt buttons, nudging his way closer across his thigh.

“Gods Jayce, you’re beautiful.” He said exposing an expanse of flawless tan skin. “You know that right?”

Jayce only let out a shuddering breath as Viktor finally was able to touch him properly. He was radiating heat like a furnace, and it was oh so easy to slide his other hand up the back of his neck. Easing their faces closer together.

Mere centimeters apart he could see his lips quivering as he frantically sucked in air.

“Breath baby…” Viktor whispered.

Jayce offered no resistance as Viktor closed the gap between them. There was no tentative pecks or uncertainty when their lips touched. They only slid further and further together. Both pressing for more. More lips, more tongue, more pressure, more Viktor, more Jayce. Viktor slid his tongue forward, and felt Jayce touch his. Velvety, warm, and perfect.

He felt Jayce’s chest swell with another shuddery breath, and pulled back. A string of saliva stretched between them as if even their bodies didn’t even wish to part.

Jayce looked up at him, eyes half-lidded with lust. His carefully styled hair breaking boyishly across his forehead. Lips shining and bright from Viktor’s attention.

“Beautiful.” Viktor breathed. Watching Jayce’s eyes light up, then bashfully look away.

“V-viktor… I—“ he started, only to cut himself off, too shy to even look him in the eye. He licked his lips, then shook himself a little, clearly trying to keep his thoughts focused. “I’m not— I mean, I don’t-“

Rarely was he so inarticulate. Pride swelled in Viktor’s chest knowing that he had done this to him.

“Jayce…” He said softly, “What if I take care of us? And you tell me if you want to stop, hm?”

As if Viktor had thrown him a life line, Jayce snapped to attention, nodding with gratitude that Viktor understood him so well.

“Alright, let’s keep going then.” He gave Jayce a light kiss, before trailing his hand down to the next prize to be uncovered.
