It is a picture showing a blue sky and a green forest floor whether it’s grass or moss or patches within the strawberries. 🍓 most of the picture is filled with strawberries on top of each other. Yellow and orange light as a backdrop between the strawberries. Most of their leafy tops are green, while yellow a couple have brown, the cycle of life.

On the forest floor, between the grass or lichen or moss, our orange and brown Pine needles. They could be something else like old dried leaves.

It’s up to the viewer to decide.

The painting is comprised of watercolor paint, Swiss crayons, and charcoal pencils.

It is a small painting for that extra special small space on the wall! A reminder of summertime.

Two rowers of a church in Sopron, Hungary. It was an emergency painting. I try to get further in to a city but some places just beckon and I have to paint.

I started with the left tower using series of yellows. I just started in the middle, adding the roof in the middle and then the next tower. I added some orange to the yellow the green dome had the dark weathering with time on the left and sometimes all of it. plus the way the sun hit the green part could be brown or even a dark purple. From there I moved down the three sections in front, statues and windows throughout in that yellow orange. The real color was closer to white. The sun was bright and heavy. Yellow spoke to me. The left side of the church came next with orange tiled roofs, it was a bright blue sky in reality- it doesn’t always go to plan while I like to fictionalize parts to feel real.

The paper stuck to a lighter one and created these interesting textures.

On the train back to Vienna I took out my charcoal pencils and fixed some perspective.

The sky looks splotchy blues and green mixed together around the dome parts, watercolor dripping to the bottom. Somehow it all works and comes together.

From the fire tower in Sopron, Hungary. A view out the window, a blue sky, several red roof roofs and greenery in the horizon.

Behind the window, people can walk all the way around, with 360° panoramic views. It’s just stunning.

This is a section of an acrylic painting that I have exhibited at at City Gallery, Vienna this month.

Everyone sees something different.

When I was painting, The final result was a meadow leading into a forest With tall trees that glistened from dew or rain.

What can’t be seen is the use of silver leaf and gold leaf. It appears as white globs of paint.

I missed hung over the forest with a blue sky, whose light was either starting or ending for the day.

This is the color palette for a new project I’m working on. I first created it at Sant’Ambrogio in Milan. I sat on the concrete floor with a few watercolors and a small painting journal I’d bought in Rome. Some places I visit I keep painting in different forms. #ECK #WestCoastKin #ltaly

This is an enlarged painting, depicting Sant’ Ambrogio, a painting I’ve done in many forms first as a small watercolor study I was in Milan, later and a enlarged watercolor of about 11 x 15 on two panels.

The first panel shows the top of the Basilica. The walls reveal colors changing overtime, golds, yellows and orange. A faded symbol of s cross is at the top. Dark screens of windows are painted in the bottom portion, where shadows of windows are above. Mossy Green marks appear in preparation for next layers.

The second panel shows the remaining part of the slanted roof showing the wall as it falls down beneath the picture. Another building rises up tall with red and orange walls.

In the top right is a big building with a red roof with dormer at the top and a couple windows below that. The far right Show green trees. If you see this post, post your #birdart 🪶🐧 Inspired by a past trip to New Zealand’s South Island at a penguin sanctuary, last year I painted these penguins on a hot summer day, when I was wishing for cooler temperatures.

This watercolor, I painted depicts a penguin swimming in the sea, and his buddy venturing out into the water. On the left side is a gray, black and brown rocky island with a tree. filled with green shrubbery. On the right, is the sea with the white capped waves crashing on the shore. The sky starts at the top with a bright blue fading to white at the horizon line. A peachy pink graces its light on soft white clouds.

The sandy brown shoreline is dotted with pebbles, especially on the right side, and a few in the center. Tones of red and gray illustrate the pebbles the way water hits it at the same time as the light.

I painted this watercolor at the same time as the previous one.

This watercolor, I painted depicts two penguins walking out to the sea. It says if they’re having a conversation or looking at each other.

The sandy brown shoreline is covered with pebbles and sea grass, Tones of brown and beige illustrate shore with the fading light or beginning of the day.

The top of the picture shows a deep blue sky whether night or morning; it’s up to the viewer to decide. This morning or evening light fates down to the horizon where it meets an aqua colored sea. White-capped waves dance and unfurl from the horizon line to the shoreline. Toward the front pockets of shore are revealed under the waves.

I feel the penguins are asking each other what this swim is going to be like, an adventure or a hard workout!

I had just finished a watercolor painting of the Vienna Skyline (some invention included) from Skybar above a department store. The raspberry cake came next served on a green plate. The all water glasses are beyond the plate. Two women sit at a café table beyond that. Behind them at the top part of picture is the Vienna skyline to the right of St. Stephen’s.

This original oil painting with cold wax medium is reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands landscape. A faded blue sky (or mountains) has a white fog or clouds moving through the middle. Under that mist covers a meadow dotted with dark green and purple heather or thistle - whatever you decide. A meandering trail whether a country road or hiking track splits the hillside. Dots of blue and lavender fill the meadow.

I went to my first Toastmasters spring conference. I’ve been doing what’s called club hopping, where I practice a speech and attend the different clubs’ meetings as a guest speaker. I loved meeting previous and new club members & watching speeches. #PublicSpeaking #ToastmastersInternational

The mentor serves to help the speaker use their speech, whether it’s one or many in a number of different ways. For example, maybe you want to focus on using gestures in your speech or use the stage more to tell your speech. If you want to make a point, you might step forward and lean in toward your audience. If another person is part of your speech, you might step to the other side of where you’re speaking.

On the left, I wore jeans and a white top, an orange scarf and turquoise beaded necklace. My glasses were over my head.

Dr. Anna wore black and a blue almost teal colored blazer over her top. A silver necklace, rings, and bracelets adorn her presence.

The spring conference is an international speech contest. She was 1 of 5 to participate for district 13 which comprises the Pittsburgh area up until one hour north such as a Butler & Cranberry and east - Laurel Highlands, which includes Johnstown, one and a half hours away.

I have spoken as a guest at many of these clubs. It’s a great way,To build your network learn about other people, grow your public speaking skills and practice leadership. You also get a ton of different feedback, which shapes how you continue practicing your speech by choosing what resonates. Often when we hear repeated feedback, it’s something that we need to address.

This painting made in oil with cold wax has Hues of yellow, green and light blue. the upper third of the foggy mountain is the color of Lavendar sitting behind a heavy fog. A trail zigzags up the mountain. I imagine it to be a hiking trail the way the grass and bush line the path. The sky is like a yellow, whether it’s sunrise or a heavy fog on top of a light blue sky at the very top of the painting.

I have never seen this place before or been there. I would love to go there if such a place exists. It has a taste of the Scottish Highlands.

When I traveled in the Scottish Highlands, the tour bus drove through a valley. We were surrounded by steep hillsides Covered in bright green grass from all the rain and mist. It was cold and wet & breathtakingly beautiful. Swarms of purple Heather lit up the meadows. It was gorgeous.

Purple mountain in a heavy fog. Patches of blue in the foreground with dark green forest and shrub along a white or brown gravel or muddy trail or road on the way up the mountain. I imagined it as a road though no people or cars traverse it. Pockets of white and cream fill the hillsides whether it’s fog or other colors up the hill is left up to the viewer’s experience.

In the bottom right corner is bright green and yellow grassy tufts.

This was from my imagination. I have been to Scotland and even the Scottish highlands for a few hours on a bus tour. It was cold and rainy. I remember seeing a lot of heather on the hillside. It looked similar to this except we were on that road in the painting in a valley rather than high up.

On Stewart Island, a painting I did from sitting on the shoreline of Stewart Island in New Zealand watching godwits and blue heron looking birds. A smiling dark-skinned man rode up on a horse with two pale skinned people following on two more horses. It was a shared moment of excited wonder. #horses

A horse with reddish-orange head and mane with the rest of its body in darker red tones with gleams of a deep purple the way light can hit glistening color. Stewart Island’s harbor was behind the trotting horse whose gait splashed up foamy water. It was summer in New Zealand, blue skies and plenty of sunshine.

Large painting on the wall called Circo Massimo, a Roman ruin in Rome that used to be where horse chariot races took place. Trees grow alongside of it. I invented the clouds; they just felt right. Purple creates the shadows within the archways,

the bottom right shows a café table and chairs with an uneaten pepperoni roll made onside at the Peinetti’s bakery in Jeannette, 30 minutes outside of Pittsburgh and a coconut latté, so good I had to have two.

I’m holding a painting that I’ve just put on stretcher bars to be taken to a café bakery outside of Pittsburgh for the month of May. This acrylic painting on rolled linen is my biggest one yet. This summer Circo Massimo is ready for a new home. #ECK #WestCoastKin #big paintings #Rome

A woman who happens to be me is standing in her living room in front of a brick fireplace with a maroon red chair on her left and bookshelves above that.

I am Holding a painting that I finished called Circo Massimo, a Roman location. I painted the original in watercolor in the summer of 2021.

The painting shows the old Colosseum that was used for horse races in Roman times. It’s not the Colosseum that you might be thinking of. It’s another one. On the other side, I understand is a museum. Also concerts sometimes play there.

The scene shows a blue sky, the Colosseum and the shadows of the old structure and ruins showing up in a purple. A yellow building is off to the bottom, right. Full green trees grow throughout the scene.

I did make a few changes such as adding clouds to the blue sky and adding teal doors to that building in the bottom, right. I use different colors for the windows of the house at the top left.

It’s a miracle; I was able to load the whole painting in my car and shut the hatch. I just wanted to see if it would fit but now it’s better just to leave it in there until unloading tomorrow. I bought the stretcher bars for ease of traveling. The first time I used these stretcher bars at this size. You never think about how long it takes to do something for the first time. It took me two hours to get the painting on the stretcher bars using the super clamp and the heavy duty stapler gun. I’m not a fan of measuring so I had to redo it. Even if I did measure, it wouldn’t have mattered.

This is an image of a painting I did in acrylic abstract painting using a picture I had. I used only a palette knife and a rolling pin that had a scallop like texture on it (the orange and green section) that was from a craft aisle at Michael’s.

I messed up the top of the lighthouse but I’ve never wanted to correct it so it stands!

The image was taken at Presque Island State Park, the only state park with a Great lake beach shoreline.

The wind was strong that day with big waves coming to shore on Lake Erie. The American flag was almost flat at times.

What I love about Lake Erie is how the forest just about kisses the lake. I changed the colors, big green and yellow bushes, imagine giant rhododendrons sitting on grass that hasn’t grown into the green shades of summer. Orange exaggerated for dead grass.

Streaks of clouds echoing pink for a sunrise or sunset.

In the building of layers the second one became the first one. Disclaimer: I was not feeling awesome. Usually the painting improves because I start feeling better. This time the intuition nudged: you better stop now. And a reminder; wait ‘til the next layer on another day. #alignment #ECK

this is a second layer I painted - purple and yellow round strokes on the left. Bright yellow and green strokes at the bottom. A white daub or two at the top, a bright orangey-red in the middle with white mixed in on the right. Bits of yellow and blue on the right and a daub of white.

This became the next layer. I had been thinking about my longing for red rocks - whether Sedona, Snow Canyon (Utah) or Zion or Bryce. I thought of the bright blue sky, and at night-time ideal for star gazing. I thought of the sage bushes in the climb up the trails.

The central middle is a dark sky blue with hints of white, leftover paint on the palette paper, falling stars I decided or funny clouds.

Dark red canyons frame the blue circle, the darker red for the farther away distance. Lighter browns, yellow ochre mixed with white getting closer to the viewer. Little pines on the right and sage bushes on the right even high grasses with yellow and green. It put in different shades of brown, yellow ochre and that indian red hoping to show the depth and change of rock in a cliff.

Being a circle maybe the image isn’t working so well; I do like to experiment though.

This was my next layer from the previous one I did yesterday as part of the 15 minute painting practice. Mainly responding to the color, forms and palette knives that my intuition was guiding me to. I did another practice today … to be revealed later. #ECK #WestCoastKin #ArtProcess

Two paintings showing my painting practice in covering up rolled linen that is nailed to the wall. Both pictures are covered with a heavy white acrylic, covering the painting space. The linen part beyond the white will be pulled over stretcher bars. I now have $95 clamps to make the canvas tighter.

Each painting where the subject lands in landing in a circle. Not sure if this will stay but I’ve seen two artist friends do it in their work and it has an interesting viewpoint like it’s framed twice or like looking into a glass globe.

The top one has a number one. There a curved blue crayon on the left side where linen is still exposed. Then a rounded curve of purple and yellow, a daub of white at the top with an orangey-red splotch watered down with some white getting to the left/center. Splotches of cereleum blue and hansa yellow and sap green feature the left and bottom part of the canvas.

The bottom canvas with the big number two on it has purple forms at the top. I see them as rock cliffs the way the stone turns color depending on the light. Yellow lingers nearby with bits of brown white paint on top in more central locations. Sap green and white over the green dot the subject area around the edges. A few small orange forms line the edges, possibly adding depth.

Looking at this beginning layer gave me joy with all the bright color. The word that came to mind: possibility - that comes with new beginnings, like a new year or a official dates for a season.

In Rome in 2021 I created a drawing by covering the paper in black charcoal and using the eraser to create the sculpture before me. I remember how hard it was unsure of how I could create what was before me. After I got into the flow, it felt like painting. #ECK #BlueSkyArt #RomeItaly #charcoal

A charcoal drawing in Rome. The process: cover a drying paper with charcoal. I Used an eraser to draw the sculpture and water fountain front of me. It shows steps and ceramics on the left and a horse on the right and other artifact looking vessels. I also used a piece of white charcoal to highlight details away from the shadows. It’s the only charcoal I did like this. It felt like painting.

This is a solo exhibition I’m having at a coffee/bakery shop called Peinetti’s in Jeannette outside of Pittsburgh. Jen had a dream of having a bakery. Every 2 months different artists have showings. This wall of my art is called “Four Seasons.” I’m rotating each wall biweekly. #BlueSkyArtShow #new

This is a wall at a bakery called Peinetti’s. A table with old photos of the Peinetti family with 2 chairs is in front of the wall.

Visible paintings:
1. You decide. Mixed media. Showing purple mountains, a blue hillside covered with silver leaf - I imagined houses with lights on on a hillside (Sime people see different things, thus, the title, you decide.)and a meadow with orange and red flowers.

2. Along the Mon’ oil with cold wax. That’s short for along the Monongahela as in a river in Pittsburgh. It was the end of summer with fall leaves starting. It shows a hillside with birch trees, white with black markings. Leave started to scatter orange and rust colors on the ground and in the trees. The sky is purple fading to a yellow like at sunset. For anyone who knows this area, this is a along the great Allegheny passage, a biking trail near the waterfront in Homestead.

3. The End of Fall. Acrylic painting. A few yellow leaves, hang onto trees on a hillside at Frick Park in the city of Pittsburgh. The forest floor is covered with red and brown whether rocks or leaves. Trees like birch trees, and colors, gray and white and black litter the hillside.

4. Wolf Rocks Trail. Oil. This painting is from a trail at Wolf rocks Trail at Laurel Summit State Park. That day I was on cross country skis, and I memorized the beauty of the day with. Of the day with a purple Sky fading into yellow. Blue shadows fell onto the snow.

I painted this in Rome in 2021. I painted and drew in July that year during the pandemic. This is panel three of three which started at dusk and continued until dark. I often would start in watercolors before moving to acrylic. #ForestFriday #EastCoastKin #Scape #PaintOnSite
