A seal is rón, which leads to the boy's name Rónán, or little seal. This name is a reference to an old Irish story about a man who marries a seal woman (a maighdean mhara, an Irish version of a mermaid, who is a woman who can shape shift into a seal), and her son was supposedly Rónán.
Firstly, the ladybird (or ladybug for those with North American English). In Irish this lovely wee beetle is called a bóin Dé, or "god's little cow", which oddly enough is also what the Russian name translates to! It can also be called a bóin samhraidh (bo-een sow-ree), which is "little summer cow"
