Additional tidbit with a quick sketch:
When Guy Bones' weapons breaks, as they often do, he uses his head like a flail, hence the rope spiked through both his helmet and skull.

Guy Bones, a recurring skeleton NPC in dungeons. Caught in a Faustian bargain, he will adventure forever, often lending brief aid to explorers.

Redesign of "Qui Furuntur Aeris," "Those Who Steal Copper," to have a bit more going on.
Also known as "the Aeramen," goblins are descended from Darish sailors "saved" during a terrible storm by the God of the Severin Sea.
#worlbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #oc #ocsky #art #goblins

The God of the Mare Nostrum, Darvail, drifts through that sea's deep, calm waters, hunting squid and small whales.
Its cast off scales can be used to make a delicate broth.

I forgot to tag this, so extra info:
The blood demon is Əlarðɶɹlʑäʀ̥n̥ðuɢolnk͡x, the Blood Demon of Broken Bones Piercing Flesh, "Ellie" for short, who was cursed by a wizard to investigate crimes as a joke.
Quick sketch below while I figured out the face.

An "elar," a blood demon, gazing at the city of Jelod, also called "the Cut." It is an ancient trade city situated in Aulterr's "Northwest Passage."

A portrait of Wys Kel Ran in his youth.
Wys is the POV for all of the journal entries in my drawings, although I usually see him as being in his 40s and 50s during that period. It started as a way to flesh out his character for a novel and spiraled.

And FINALLY, we're full circle:
Wheat is grown on the Death Cult's vast properties, which is in turn baked into bread and brewed with hops grown in abbey gardens.
If you just order "beer" at any bar, you will be given Death Cult Lager.
#worldbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #oc #ocsky #art

Despite this, the Death Cult is best known for its economic effect. One of the earliest structures in any settlement, vastly wealthy, and charged with reinvesting in the community, a Death Cult abbey will own vast tracts of land and employ many laborers.
#worldbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #oc #ocsky #art

The Death Cultists can also negotiate on your behalf to improve your lot in the afterlife.
One example of this is the Hearteater, tasked with devouring the hearts of 100 dragons to avoid its fated damnation. It is the head of the Imperial Revenue Service.
#worldbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #oc #ocsky #art

Who are the Death Cultists?
Very few are actual devotees of the Death God. Most just wanted steady employment, and others are simply working for a more privileged afterlife.
In any case, they are often more dedicated to the upkeep of abbeys than worship.
#worldbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #oc #ocsky #art

The key feature of a Death Cult abbey is Death's Gate, invoking the Gates of the Hells. Through these gates is the abbey's forum, where beer and bread is often sold.
It is also through these gates that the dead issue forth during the Night Parade.

First, the Death Cult worships the Pantheon of Death, ruled by Althaen, God of the Hells.
Due to eons of feuding with the Pantheon of Kings, Althaen decks his kilometer tall form in the funerary shrouds of royalty and the flags of fallen empires.

I've wanted to discuss one of the ideas I'm most excited about from Aulterr: the Death Cult.
From their mission of ferrying the dead to their breweries and banking operations, the Death Cult is one of the most important global organizations in Aulterr.

I'm back!
My only drawing from when I was away: a soft-pun based on my cousin's description of frogs in Thailand. As low-concept as it gets.
The bull frog has tenderloins which can be prepared very similarly to pork.

Sorry for the lack of activity! I hopped on an 11 hour flight the day after three weeks of exam period, and I've been traveling since.
In the words of my mother, my family's vacations are "a forced march," so I've had little will to work on anything, but I have been collecting a lot of inspiration!

Where I'm at spiritually right now.
My gnome assassin's rat-pigeon familiar, my chud son, Pistachio.
I'm probably not going to have time to be doing much here until June, but I'll try to post the occasional bit of older/rushed art to prove I'm still among the living.

I do not comprehend what is wrong with this image. I have changed its format, I re-exported it from an SVG file, and I even just screenshotted it. Still nada.
So here's a photo of my computer.

I've finally hit double Master Ball in Pokemon Champions, which means at long last I can stop playing and focus on anything else in my free time.
And to the one person who notices it, yes, all my Pokemon are always Steely Dan references for no reason in particular.

Where magic is based in part on your understanding of your opponent, how does this affect fashion?
Fashion is defensive: the average mage wants you to know as little about who they are and what they're thinking as possible.

The Imperial Revenue Service agent makes their move!
A few interstitial panels that I meant to be longer before I realized how small a page is.
I'll hopefully wrap this up relatively soon.

Do you ever have to do something very repetitive, but by the time you're about finished you've realized you've improved?
I started doing the mountains from the bottom to the top, and now I know I can do the southern and central mountains better. So I'm probably gonna start over.

The faun are former high elves "blessed" by their canyon god, Krait; however, they are cursed to slowly turn to stone.
Their most dedicated forge clerics build kilns into their own bodies so that they can deepen the magic in the items the create.

I was discussing an old project with a friend and looking through my folders, and I actually found the better maps!
Very much changed to style I'm going for because this represents probably around 24+ hours of mouse-and-keyboard in GIMP, and it ain't worth it.
#worldbuilding #mapmaking #art

I'm happy to do it in small doses, like in this fella from last June-ish, but covering that whole damned bird was killing my hand and my will to draw.

I had the concept for rocs since at least October, but detailing the feathers burnt me out, and I never loved the design to begin with.
Then I saw a crab claw with a googly eye on it in a novelty shop, and I burned through the reposted image in like 3-4 hours. Crazy how inspiration works.
