Labor economist at pro-worker Economic Policy Institute. Views my own. Daughter of a French-Canadian immigrant. (she/her) Are you registered? Check iwillvote.com. As a voter assist volunteer, it breaks my heart when people find out too late they're not.
For Francophiles who need a laugh after today’s match, may I suggest the dumb-fun Nice Girls on Netflix?
Massive police presence (10+ cop cars—can’t tell which…) at Lanier and Harvard Streets NW DC. From what I can hear from my apartment mood seems relaxed, but then why so many? Hoping it’s not ICE…
Best lunchtime walk ever (there are perks to living near the zoo!!) Two-month-old Linh Mai made her public debut yesterday, on Earth Day. She’s with her patient and watchful surrogate mom, Swarna, since not every elephant—or human—has what it takes to be a good parent.
Weekend trip to NYC, staying at the friendly and helpful Best Western Empire State just down the street from this Wisteria marvel. The city’s gardens are all in bloom right now. Brooklyn Botanical Garden was mobbed but stunning (good happy people watching).
The end suggests the impressive crowd size (this is just a fraction).
Beautiful evening at Ft Reno Park DC. The world is a mess but spring is here.
Saw this in my neighborhood today—3+ months after Christmas. Is it possible to replant a cut tree, or is it just being kept “alive” with water?!
Guess who’s working in on a Sunday in DC during a government shutdown? The guy restoring the statue of Confederate general & alleged KKK goon Albert Pike, damaged during BLM protests. Also the US Park Police guarding him. PRIORITIES.
I regret to inform myself that Bari Weiss and I share the same room aesthetic. (Also, screenshot is from the John Oliver takedown, which is well worth watching.)
Mo’s Deli sandwiches ready for #NoKings, made with a pool noodle, felt, and Sculpey. I’m also wearing a👚
So many things to discover and rediscover at the fabulous NMAAHC. Today, am particularly moved by this homemade case to protect freedom papers—as immigrants today in DC and elsewhere have similar worries about carrying and protecting papers.
Hegseth reminds me of a fishing cat, except fishing cats are cool. townsquare.media/site/498/fil...
Summary of Minot ND attractions, per my brother, visiting a friend. He’s genuinely excited to be there—unclear if there’s fishing involved.
My #NoKings poster (very last minute since I wasn't sure if/where we were protesting as DC residents). I need to figure out the cartoon frog/toad thing.
@afscme.bsky.social Lee Saunders now testifying in support of union brother David Huerta "We're gonna fight like hell!"
@lizshuler.bsky.social here with a lively crowd demanding Free David Huerta! Just spoke: @jayapal.house.gov. Also testifying in solidarity: @rebeccaspringle.bsky.social; @rweingarten.bsky.social; Jaime Contreras @32bjseiu.bsky.social
