- the good news: I sat down to redo my outline and, according to my (rough) math, I have roughly 105k words written on this hualian enemies to lovers fic - the bad news: I still have uh. 70-100k words to write, between edits and scenes I haven’t gotten to yet
Word count is closer to 1.75 million when you add in words from my alt and a bunch of drafts, but heyyyy I’m fine with this

Interestingly, while no one in heaven has anything nice to say about Pei Ming (“The Three Tumors” is a spectacular friend group name) and PM himself doesn’t exactly cover himself in glory until much later, he has an early approval flag from the last person you’d expect: Hua Cheng.
When he’s making himself unlovable next time, it’s to point out that Wind Master is being a bit hypocritical to defend Xie Lian, based on his own reasoning. And we like Wind Master and Xie Lian, so naturally this doesn’t endear Pei Ming to us. But like… he’s right.
A great example of this is MQ. Mu Qing frequently does things that are either neutral or outright benign/helpful for Xie Lian, and then the narrator (again, NOT ACTUALLY XIE LIAN) immediately assigns negative or malicious motivation to his behavior. (Enjoy my shitty highlighting and annotating)
