I got the Alien Evolved Edition Starter Set! Just flipping through the rulebook and adventure booklet has me really excited. I can’t wait to actually play it.

There used to be an Evangelion TTRPG in Japan. I never got to play it, and since it’s long out of print, it’s pretty hard to find now.

Last week, a MÖRK BORG-only TTRPG convention was held in Tokyo. Five game sessions were run, and I was the GM for one of them.

I’ve got a MÖRK BORG session next week, so of course I had to buy a cool shirt.

CCFOLIA, the provider of Japan’s largest VTT service, has announced the release of Table Game World, a title for Nintendo Switch 2. It lets players enjoy tabletop games like TTRPGs and board games online. Just share a room code, and you can play with friends in a room with up to eight players.

This limited-edition Kickstarter cover is insanely cool. And beyond that, we also created some new typography specifically to work with the Japanese characters.

I just heard that the Japanese edition of MÖRK BORG has finished printing. The special edition cover looks fantastic.

#16 Paranormal Inc. This is a gm-less TTRPG for 2-5 players. As members of a struggling ghost investigation agency, players investigate ghost-related cases, follow the clues, and uncover the truth.

#15 Something is Wrong With This House This is a short narrative horror TTRPG for 3–6 players about the haunting of a House from the perspective of its dark denizens. The Facilitator takes on the role of a family member who has moved into this house.

#14 9 Lives to Valhalla You are a death metal viking cat, earning your place in the drinking halls of Valhalla by casting a wake of blood and carnage upon the blighted earth in each of your 9 lives. In this TTRPG, every roll of the dice puts a life on the line—sometimes even the GM’s!

#13 Eyes on the Prize This is a court intrigue game for 2 or 4 players in which you dream up a fake-married couple, then attempt to wield their fraudulent union to achieve their shared goals. Get your shit done, don't get caught, and absolutely, positively do not fall in love for real.

It also includes many different types of wizard classes, such as the Marks Mage and the Martial Dancer(In this sample character, she is a shapeshifter). This is a two-player game, the Game Master takes the role of the master, and the player takes the role of the apprentice.

"プレシャスデイズ (Precious Days)" This is a TTRPG about a traveling wizard master and their apprentice. The apprentice travels through the realm with their master, taking on various jobs until they can stand on their own as a wizard. www.fear.co.jp/preciousdays...

My friend said they wanted to try playing D&D, so I bought this.

#12 Black Powder & Brimstone A grimdark fantasy RPG, compatible with MÖRK BORG. Embark on a dark and daring adventure where death and destruction lurks around every corner. It features a number of wonderful artworks. I especially like the physical version of this game.

#11 CHOROGAIDEN It blends classic Japanese horror with eldritch mysteries. The intrinsic Pool and Eyescape system ensure the horror rapidly increases as the player’s succeed in meddling in forces beyond their understanding, success that could mean their end as the Eyes begin to open.

#10 The Hunted Folk horror storytelling game. Players take on the role of a group of friends on an expedition who become cut off from civilisation as they are hunted by an unknown entity. As the game continues the players will tell their own stories about the thing hunting them and unique legend.

#9 ガラクティア(Garactier) This is a Japanese roguelike TTRPG. You are a machine implanted with a human consciousness. Explore the ruins of an ancient civilization(Yes, this is a post-apocalyptic world), fight creatures, gather items, and upgrade yourself to become stronger.

#8 Into the Odd In the industrial age, you are an Explorer, braving places too remote for maps and too ancient for records. Your expeditions uncover the bizarre, the wondrous, and the horrific... I haven’t had a chance to play this game yet. The system seems great, so I’d love to play it someday.

#7 Never Going Home This is a party-focused role-playing game set in horror haunted trenches during the First World War. You play as part of a Unit, a group of soldiers. Characters may be lost along the way, dying from injuries or descending into madness due to forces beyond the Veil.

#6 Pie Lent Hill Pie Lent Hill is a horror TTRPG about delivering pizza. You play as a broke student working part-time at a pizza shop, trying to survive the night while delivering pizzas in a cursed town.

#5 Kutulu This is a Swedish Lovecraftian TTRPG set in the 1920s–30s, focused on mystery-solving. One of the aspects I especially like is how it incorporates a literary technique into the game: as player characters lose sanity, the Game Master’s descriptions begin to change in strange ways.

#4 慈悲なきアイオニア(AIONIA) This is a Japanese dark fantasy TTRPG. Instead of leveling up, your character gains access to more skills over time. It also features an irreversible stat called “Scars” in place of Hit Point.

#3 LIMINAL Liminal is a game about those on the boundary between modern-day UK and the Hidden World — a world of secret societies of magicians, a police division investigating Fortean crimes, fae courts, werewolf gangs, and haunted places where the walls between worlds are thin.

#2 Fléaux! This is a brutal, cool dark fantasy TTRPG inspired by The Black Hack 2nd Edition and Black Sword Hack. No classes. Just pick a unique origin like ogre-blooded or goblin (and, of course, elf or dwarf), choose your upbringing and starting profession, and start playing.

#1 Barkhäxan This is an OSR game by Pelle Nilsson and Johan Nohr, where you explore a deep forest filled with terrifying folk horror. While playing, I found a cassette tape of Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun by Pink Floyd as an item in the game, I fell in love with this game.

One of the challenges of localization is that developers often do not understand how a font feels to native speakers of that language. The Japanese font in Undead Chronicles feels cute. Maybe by the end of the game, you will become friends with them and watch a movie together over popcorn.
