Bookish boomer, leftie, no cats or dogs but I love them. Kiwi, Ōtautahi.
Ah good old rasp rhub jam, from our garden. Cheers you up on a grey, cold winter day.
Went to Edgeware this morning and parked in the carpark of doom (where you’re most likely to get dinged). I’d never noticed these cute additions to the street furniture before.
Had one of those mornings! Chemist Warehouse hell hole, cafe too noisy, supermarket hell and at the library I pick up these two! Time to retreat home I reckon.
I see all sorts of townhouse designs in post EQ Christchurch. This one on the old Crichton Cobbers site.
Escaped the fog and greyness around Christchurch and went to Castle Hill and had a picnic lunch at Cass station. Beautiful inland.
Beginner surfer dude practicing staying upright on a perfect morning at Sumner. Christchurch is so lucky. Everyone out walking or biking, dogs, babies, grandkids, friends walking and gossiping, perfection.
Went to the Avebury House market this morning. You can have a nice time, especially if you’re into skulls and toys.
Now I know why we have a bellbird about. Kowhai out the front is in flower. Seems incredibly early.
Off to Penny Lane this morning to collect a belated Christmas present. The Cecilia Bartoli was a little bonus. It is a beautiful day.
Unexpected harvest. Not perfect but excellent for having with tomorrow’s breakfast.
Looking at old photos and realising old hairdos come around. My dad modelling a short back and sides in the 1930s. Posed in a hut in the Orongorongo Valley.
If you’ve got to have big infrastructure you can decorate them for interest.
I loved this. Such an imaginative insight into Jane’s life and writing. Carefully researched and visualised.
Back from 10 days holiday with a pile of old and new books. Greeted by a pumping garden even though the kids came and picked stuff. I’ll be busy pickling this week.
I dreamed of owning a classic Citroen. This Light 15 tricked out to perfection in our motel car park.
The world is pretty crazy but having a little Robin fossick around your feet very trustingly is a great curative.
Fred Graham exhibition at Pataka Gallery in Porirua was a highlight today.
Started holiday with can’t beat it on a good day day, Zealandia was ace, Petone was ace (Schrodingers Books, la Bella Italia) Now retiring to recover from a 5am start.
After all the rain and wind the sun is out and the garden lush. Making pesto, freezing beans.
Went to the dentist and to pick up a repaired printer and the techies gave us a treat. On a wet and traffic crazy morning it brightened things up.
Aargh rats in the vege garden! J is firing up traps. We have not had this problem for years. Neighbourhood moggies falling down on the job. 🌱🇳🇿
Enjoyed this. Light, witty, well paced and well written who dunnit. Great entertainment and another in the series in the pipeline!
Went to my cookbook shelves and couldn’t find The Cook’s Garden but wait! It was in a pile I had been consulting for ideas😊 A classic.
