We marvel at the serenity of the forest, and crave the shroud of its silence. The person behind Roadwarden and Windy Meadow. New game in the works.
why are machines /talking/ to me via e-mail now As if there was not enough spam targeting indie devs' inboxes already. (black boxes to avoid advertising this trash)
there may be a connection between my writing paragraphs like this for months on end and my growing craving for meadows and forests
Behind each one of the dwellings, warehouses, and shacks are three more buildings, some with collapsed roofs, others with broken walls. The rest seem just fine until you approach their thresholds - the scents of putrid furniture keep you on edge. #indiedev #screenshotsaturday
Past, level 2: It’s a reflection of the distant might of The Ten Cities. Constructing it surely took a decade or more, and it served as a vantage point, an outpost for soldiers, a granary, a prison, and a shelter for travelers, all at once.
Past, level 1: Spots like these were taken over by the regular folk once the armies have dwindled. While they may last for the foreseeable future, there haven’t been any new fortresses like this getting raised in recent generations. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
Past: You’ve encountered her a few times when you were kids, but she used to be a part of the wealthy circles. One day, she disappeared - together with her daughters. She returns to the city every winter, but spends her days with the common folk. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
Crafts: The tribesfolk would see this totem as a crude piece. Clairvoyance: You taste nothing in the air other than the scent of flowers. Wilderness: If this was intended for animals to fear it, it’s definitely a misguided attempt. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
If there's a good thing in writing about ruins and desolate lands for two months with hardly any breaks, it's that I get to especially enjoy my humble journeys through vibrant nature.
The landscapes are in a clash worthy of rutting stags. Their scent is an unsuitably pleasant mixture: earthy and smoky from the charred wood, but sweet and gentle because of the meadow flowers. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
If this review of Esoteric Ebb feels more like a paid ad that drips with glazing and not an honest take, well, that's because @chrisbodegard.bsky.social did just too good of a job.
The shadows are dense enough to choke down most shrubs, but you struggle to squeeze between the low-hanging needle crowns. The treefall gaps are barely enough to cultivate a few patches of white flowers. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
You lean for a moment against the creaking wall of the stand, thinking about the old days. The shepherds and herdsmen used to find respite in the same shadow, observing their flocks lost in the meadows of blues and yellows. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
“Can a realm so full of suffering be hollow? Pointless? I refuse.” #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
Damn, it's been a rough few weeks. But finally, I get to relax in my beloved realm, filled with desolated villages, forgotten pathways, starving beasts, and shattered dreams. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
The evergreens open up, and take you to a wide, paved road. It would be a more welcoming sight if it wasn’t for the signs of the destruction borne by the stockade. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
It’s early spring. Your adventure will end with the arrival of winter, before snow covers the roads and the tree crowns. You can’t escape this - each day is going to count. #indiedev #screenshotsaturday
The wind raises up small clouds of dust, but it’s nothing that would slow down your steps. You decide to split, with each soul following a different set of tracks. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
It’s little more than a game trail, but a pattern of flowers runs alongside its verges, beckoning you to follow. When you approach the corner of the tower, the star-winged owl begins to step left-and-right, puffing up its chest and snapping its beak. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
Nothing louder than a gust of wind comes from the valley. The gallop of an auroch lingers above the burnt woods, as distant as it is haunting. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
I don't know how it all unwrapped that I could watch 1985 Angel's Egg in a Polish cinema TODAY, but what a trip to watch it on a big screen. A movie that I saw for the first time 17 years ago, almost half of my life, from a pirated .avi file. And is much better than in my memories.
It tears me apart that I can't show you everything just yet, but give me a year or two and I'll invite to a great adventure, I promise. Sharing these because of vibes. #indiedev #screenshotsaturday
You grab a piece of rope and tie the plank to the post. Time will tell if the new finger will earn the switch to steel nails. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
The scent of fish broth is inviting, if a bit too potent. You can only hope that taking a sip won’t mark your lips with the same type of grimace that's been carved on the innkeep's smile. #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
I'm working on a "see that mountain? climbing it would be silly and dangerous, and there are monsters there, and why would you, let's do something interesting and with lasting consequences" type of #indiegame #screenshotsaturday
"Days get blurry. The same few trees, over and over. You put on the gear, take it off, and put it on again. You listen to howls, to chirps. Nothing happens, then everything crashes down. And at that point, you’re either too on the edge, or too drowsy." #screenshotsaturday #indiedev
So... If anyone here has access to Roadwarden on Switch... Could you let me know how it runs now, after the patch?
