#FantasyIndiesAugust Day 2: Two truths and a lie about your WIP 1) I kill everyone. Some people more than once 2) Tay Amergin is a famous assassin from Ireland 3) If you love your mobile phone enough, you take it to the afterlife with you when you die. But there's no electricity or signal in Kaetia
Dad's back in hospital. I feel like I'm permanently holding my breath. Can't get this poem I wrote back in February from circling my head (even though it was about something else back then!)
You do a wash of watercolour, then lay the clingfilm/wrap over it, maybe scrunching it up if you want patterns, then leave it to dry and carefully peel it off. It works better with some paint over others.
Someone once said that although they love my art, they'd never buy any as I sometimes use clingfilm to create effects, and they think that's bad for the environment. Weird, but fair enough. We stayed friends and I accepted that. 1/3
I’ve been so ill the last couple of days, my new cleaning mask arrived and I didn’t even open the packet/walk around the house with it on being silly. No idea what this bit is supposed to do, other than make me photograph it and post a silly comment.
Yes, at first I was excited, now I’m neutral, and happy I saw it, and concerned, all at once. Anyway, bright red bummed bee!
Mary Wollstonecraft is trending, so I shall shamelessly post a pumpkin carving I did of her roundabout the time *that* statute was making the news.
#RepostYourArt Day 21: Cloud! Well, there are clouds in this painting... (Lindisfarne Castle - painted for my parents' sapphire wedding anniversary since they met on the island.)
Share your art: Day 20 Critter! Here's a very old design I made of an ant you would want to show up at a picnic... With also an obscure reference to the oliphant.
And a photo of the painting I just took, as it's in front of me and a bit dusty...
This was a photo of the painting propped up against the computer whilst I was trying to get the colours right (I never quite got it 100%.) But the scan is shining through the painting, and I liked the effect.
Oh yes, I was doing this... Right... Day 19: Fruit. Here's a painting I did when I had a certain idea for the cover of my book. It's called The Fall of Constantinople. (and is painted using only 2 paints and many many thin layers of watercolour paint.) The scan kinda altered the look of it.
Not the best photo ever, but it's a miracle shot! I literally just turned my phone up and snapped, without focusing or anything 'just in case'.
I made a couple more memes of my cat tonight. (YES I'M PROCRASTINATING.)
Today's poem is The Kill Chain. The image is a photo of a skull I carved into a pumpkin a few years back. Text below 1/4 #Poetry
Repost your art day 8: Autumn Well, I guess it'll have to be pumpkins! Here are some of my many carves... #RepostYourArt
The horseman of conquest became the koala of love. The horseman of war became the koala of scuffles. The horseman of famine became the koala of munchies The horseman of death became the koala of naptime. Just a bit of silly. Enjoy! #RepostYourArt 2/2
Repost your art day 7: Silly! So one day I was idly thinking, and wondered what if I made the 4 horseman of the apocalypse into the 4 koalas of the eucalyptus. As you do. Cue deep dive into koalas for a couple of months, a lot of sketching and resketching, a little NON AI photoshopping. 1/2
Repost your art day 6: Birds (You can visit my RedBubble shop to have a look at my other paintings/creations/pumpkin carvings, or even buy some stuff to support me! MotiBlack.redbubble.com)
Repost your art day 5: Mountain I painted this for the cover of The Casa Martyrs. It mostly fits with the image I describe in the book, but I think I will repaint it at some point and redo the cover, as it was rushed a bit and my book deserves better.
Day four of Report your Art: Cat/Dog Well... this was going to be my thing, but each painting took over a month, and people were prepared to pay £40 ish, so that was a bust. (Or not paying at all was a thing.) (But them some people were overly generous, so they were lovely). #RepostYourArt
Repost your art day 2! Bloom... Here's a cheery poppy... #RepostYourArt
Repost your art challenge! Here's my contribution to Hello! It was a painting done a few years back now for a Judgement Tarot card. #RepostYourArt
Well that was a dramatic event. A huge (we assume queen) bumblebee got trapped in the front room. I don't know how long she had been in there with the sun shining on her as she banged against the window. I opened the windows, but she didn't seem to be able to get up that far/find the opening
