Pedestrian in Downtown Minneapolis
Portland & W River Pkwy is a nightmare at rush hour on a nice day. Reckless, angry drivers looking for a shortcut make crossing here treacherous. There's zero reason to have cars down here. None. But our transportation planners and political leaders don't care about bikeped safety.
I feel like I saw a different variation of this map earlier today with the same land use pattern.
So Downtown Wednesdays is one of the big ideas for revitalizing Nicollet Mall? This could be a parody. These people are clueless. There's a DJ, surly tent, a few knick knack vendors, whatever is going on in that orange van, and a thick smog from the wild fires. This is so bleak man.
What's up with the 645? It's wild I can take this from downtown to Mound during the week and Wayzata on the weekend. One day I am going to take it to visit Back Channel Brewery. Totally baffling route.
Target Field is a nice walkable neighborhood with good density, plenty of restaurants and some cool bars. We need to replicate this density all over but need a few more basic services. Laundry is tough at Target Field. (yes, the stadium isn't full yet!)

These pedestrian bridges over Bruckner are very bleak. The Bronx is way too complex for me to comprehend. Some of the best parks too.

I imagine 100K versions of this photo exists but this is my BW version of Mickey's diner. A diachronic project would be interesting, capturing the people coming and going over a decade like "Auggie" Wren in Smoke.
Paris has pedestrianized 197 streets since 2020. This is the future and Minneapolis and St. Paul better get to work soon.
I feel the Twin Cities should be in that 7 slot. But that would require removing 94 and pedestrianizing several streets and parkways. Walkability is a bit of a loaded term too.
I don't know if it's a secret or not but this desire path is gnarly.

It's definitely an interesting trail with all of the boardwalks and different parks.
Add a free appetizer with your parking ticket anywhere in the open container party zone. Close down Lagoon, food trucks on the Greenway, etc, etc.
It's definitely a nice view but we need a good connection to the Lowry Bridge. New addition to the overlook is very nice but runs into the industrial hellscape.
