Book 9 of 2026 - Strange Houses by Uketsu
Loved it. Slightly far fetched towards the end but it’s fiction… far fetched is allowable

Book 8 of 2026 - The Satsuma Complex by Bob Mortimer
Wasn’t expecting loads from yet another British celebrity written book by I like Bob so gave it a chance.
Better than expected. It reads like Bob talks. So some funny moments in it and a charming enough tale

Barcelona morning run
The dream to live somewhere like this. Sunny, warm, morning runs by the sea.
Dreading the UK winter already 🤣
Lots and lots of runners about along with the most hardcore party goers from the night before.

Sub-threshold session slowly moving in the right direction direction. Still 30s a KM slower than a few months back but hopefully when it cools down they won’t be too far off
3 x 10 minutes (60s recovery)
Average rep pace 4:55/km
Lovely warm British coastal route

First long run back after a few weeks of unhealthy eating and too many World Cup beers 🍺 On the trails.
Felt hard work.
Current easy pace - 6:44/km (based on sub 140bpm HR)
12 weeks to get back in sub 90 half marathon shape. Can I PB from here.. 1:28:50 to beat

Book 7 of 2026 - Willie, Willie, Harry, Stee by Charlie Higson
Loved this. An amusing summary of all the monarchs reigns. Warts and all. Far from an expert on the topic so learnt lots of new stuff. Fun illustrations by Jim Moir (Vic Reeves)

Book 6 of 2026 - Livid by Patricia Cornwell
One of the least enjoyable books I’ve read in a long time. Probs didn’t help that I hadn’t realised it was part of a series and there was a lot of talk about characters histories.
Even taking that into account I thought the plot was silly tho

Running is the best way to explore a country. Found lots of places in Japan from my morning run I otherwise wouldn’t have had time to see

Book 5 of 2026 - John & Paul (A love story in songs) by Ian Leslie
An enjoyably different take on a much covered topic. The music GOATs. A relationship tinged with sadness but also lots of joy. Recommend for any Beatles lovers

The weathers slowly warming up in the UK and the chest torch can nearly be put away until October..
Easy run on the coastal path to make the most of it

Book 4 of 2026
The Honjin Murders by Seishi Yokomizo
Maybe my favourite yet of the Kindaichi series. Short but sweet. Classic ‘locked room’ murder mystery set in post war rural Japan.
Just over 2 months until I’m back in my favourite country

Book 3 of 2026
The final detail by Harlan Coben
If you’re looking for an easy to read, trashy, holiday book then this is an OK pick. Plot was a little silly at times but the ending was wrapped up well enough.
A bit odd and dated in places.

Running is grim in the UK at the minute. Windy, wet and cold… just about ticking along until spring at the minute!

Book 2 of 2026
The Little Sparrow Murders by Seishi Yokomizo
Weirdly,(considering it’s a murder mystery) this just made me want to get back to rural Japan.
Really enjoying this series of Detective Kindaichi mysteries. Not reading them in order but that’s no big deal

Book 1 of 2026
Nuclear War - A scenario by Annie Jacobsen
The owner of a small book shop said this book could be traumatising.
1st 1/2 was worrying but by the end the ‘scenario’ became a bit far-fetched & left me less worried about the imminent destruction of earth. Decent book tho

Book 7 of 2025
A mind of my own - Kathy Burke
A much more enjoyable read.
KB is a bit of a national treasure. Knew her comedy stuff more than her acting career but her take on her life is as humorous as you’d expect.

Book 6 of 2025
Butter by Asako Yuzuki
Didn’t particularly enjoy this one. Snail like progress reading it. Liked the premise of it but there was only so much food and butter description I could take. Not for me.
Hopefully my book count is a bit better in 2026!

12 weeks of NSA method training & I’ve finally broken the 40min barrier for 10K
The NSA hype is real
Not the most glamorous way 2 train & probs not for people who don’t like repetition/doing same thing every week but an enjoyable way 2 train I think

Trying to get the runs in still whilst on holiday. All easy efforts cause of the heat then trying to do a few swims for the sub t stuff.
Sunrise run to the beach this morning.
Trail run to Tsambika monastery yesterday. 🇬🇷
4 weeks into NSM now. Feel fitter

Monday - London running
Easy run to Kensington gardens. Reminder that alcohol is a runners worst enemy 🤣
Hoping to get a 6 x 1k threshold session done today
#running #runsky #london

Week 2 of NSM complete. Rest day Sun as won’t have chance to run tomorrow.
Weds & Thurs both 10k easy
Friday - 10k race (time 43:10) as expected fitness is in the bin at the minute but hoping with a few more consistent weeks this picks up.
Saturday 10k easy on the trails
#runsky #running

First week on NSM banked. Encouraging to see my speed on the easy runs has come down a bit whilst still keeping the average HR below 136 bpm (70% of Max HR)
Saturday - 12 x 3mins sub thresh
Sunday - easy long run
Monday - 12k easy
Tuesday - 6 x 1k (60s) thresh
#runsky #running #nsm

HR / splits for the easy run at week 1. Run was early in the morning so not that impacted by the heat.

Legs have been feeling a bit battered recently so decided to try the Norwegian singles method to help increase the mileage and avoid the niggles & ankle issues.
First week trying it. 6 runs a week, 4 super easy, 2 threshold work outs and 1 long run.
