Today, the wildfires in Southern BC aren't located in the middle of either the Kamloops or Cariboo Fire Centres. Presumably, the Fire Centre boundaries follow high mountain ranges, & most of our fires right now were caused by lightning. BC wildfires often start in the least accessible of places.
Here's a reply to something I posted yesterday in response to Mark Carney's mind-boggling pro-MAGA comment. Not the first time some dude has replied to an (accurate) observation I've made with a dismissive FFS. They get upset when we don't implicitly trust the supreme leader's 3D chess play. WTF?

This is just electricity generation. We are very slow to adopt EVs. We haven't addressed emissions from agriculture. Fossil fuel extraction emits huge amounts before those fuels are even burned. (Doesn't matter where they are burned either - it's all one climate.) Overall, not doing well at all.
So, one night after sneaking out on a clandestine canoe trip, Aiden (the main character) and his crush listen to some music in their tent, and Aiden kisses his friend on the cheek. That's it. This is a monumental mistake in 1995 when the book is set, and triggers a dramatic chain of events.
The book tells the story of a boy at Scout camp the summer before high school. He's attracted to his tent mate. Here's a depiction during the group shower - to his horror, our protagonist drops the soap. The book also includes dream/imagination sequences. None meet the criteria of the order.
It's also a pretty accurate depiction of 12 year old boys horsing around and being cringe. The order also lists images of masturbation. So, here's the most "graphic" page on that topic, which also doesn't meet the criteria in the Ministerial Order (explicit images of sexual activity)
Alberta's Ministerial Order bans books from school libraries on the basis of "explicit images of sexual activity", including depictions of the use of artificial sexual organs touching clothed or unclothed private parts. This image, the most graphic in the book, doesn't even show touching.
🧵 Flamer, one of four graphic novels singled out to be banned by the government of Alberta, is a graphic novel about an adolescent boy who is bullied by his peers. He's very smart, very self-conscious and very afraid of high school in September. See the thread for images from the book:
Guaranteed these misinformants don't have a forest fire burning up their back fence. Just saying. (Pic shows the forest behind my house after the fire in 2023. The green is our septic field.)
I still have very mixed feelings about Trudeau, but here he is showing up at Vancouver Pride a year ago, just low key and real, doing it because it's the right thing to do. This feels like a significant contrast to Carney's staged PR video op, which is being lauded for its contrast to Poilievre.
You, yourself just reposted the attached yesterday! Note the bottom right corner. Lol. Little thing called climate change. Caused by burning fossil fuels. Makes it hot and dry.
