Long‑tailed shrike showing brilliantly at Eastleach Down after a tough week. Stunning spot full of wildlife. Watched it take a vole and dismantle it in a hawthorn. Worth every bit of the effort.

Spent today in the Findhorn Valley with highlights being pied and spotted flycatcher, redstart, wheatear, common sandpiper and a golden eagle being mobbed by buzzards as they rode a thermal. Surprised to see wild pansy (new for me, I think)

So the 1st car park at Cairngorm has been turned into a motor home park. No more viewing area for grouse🙄
30/05 White-winged scoter at point blank range at Kirkcaldy. Much better than the Musselburgh bird I saw in Sept 18 which was a 16 hour round trip to watch it bob up and down half a mile out in the pouring rain #RareBirdsUK

Last weekend I earthed up my potatoes with mushroom compost. Big mistake, the extremely hot weather caused the mushroom compost to start composting the potato leaves #growyourown #allotmentlife Hopefully they will bounce back.
Mallard ducklings are just the best. This family group ventured into the garden this afternoon so I put out some water and a handful of seed as a reward.

Stunning day birding in Suffolk today. Started early on the heaths with sensory overload. Smell of coconut in the air from the gorse and multiple singing nightingale, dartford warbler, woodlark and the commoner species. Then to Minsmere for reedbed and wetland birds. Managed to bag 18 year ticks.
