Technical artist and game art generalist. VR avatar knowledge haver. No AI, NFT, crypto or techbro, rather I'd like a cool rock or a neat looking plant.
I know another heatwave is coming so I am enjoying the rain so much today. Got myself a little treat. But damn the weather tables have turned, haven't they. It feels almost obscene to celebrate a rainy cold day like this as a Scandinavian!
and this is the cup I wanted to use but for some reason the glaze came out poop colored. AGAIN. THIS IS NOT MY FIRST POOP CUP #techniclayartist
This is the cup I hand built by making a clay sphere with trapped air inside! It turned out okay! #techniclayartist
Interesting clause in Norwegian phone service contract; customer is not permitted to upload any agreements, personal information or confidential information to any open LLMs where the data can be used for further training (so, most of them). Interesting change in the wind, there
Glazing is hard work especially when the studio is a hot box aaahhh maybe we don't need a kiln, I'll just leave them there and it will reach 1260C eventually
When you get your stuff out of bisque and realize you will be glazing for A WHILE...everything except the art pieces in the back here is mine #techniclayartist I admit I got a bit excited when I figured out better centering
how much do you wanna bet this AGS checkbox is only there because of GDPR or similar legislation? I dunno I just have a feeling. It still feels like I'm installing a rootkit. I'm gonna burn my c drive later
This dark UX implies that there is an option to install painter without creative cloud. Not so! After downloading this you get a..."creative cloud and substance painter installer". I just hate you so much, Adobe. I hate you because you hate me. The fuck did I ever do to you
Picked up this bowl I bought from one of the instructors at my studio today, see this is goals. I love everything about it! #techniclayartist
by the power of stencil maker machine and pottery, behold! I've almost succeeded (I need to find a better material for the stencils..they didn't stick on properly like I had envisioned!)
A new challenger has entered the ring and I almost laughed out loud when I saw this
This is the first time out of what feels like 500 times that the glaze came out and did something fun. It's time for glaze test tiles because I'm done getting disappointed by everything else 🥲 #techniclayartist the green one was the only one to come out the way I wanted it but alas..glued to kiln
Shot, chaser. This took sooo long and first blood has been spilled to the kiln gods (I was lucky it could have gone a lot worse) #techniclayartist
So you can't tell from the pics but I Figured Out centering today and throwing these 5 pieces (each 700g) was an absolute breeze. The plan is to work up to a size that can become a yarn bowl but for now I'm happy with these regular size coffee cups for once!! #techniclayartist
Tried hand building a mug in today's #techniclayartist we can now add pressure to the list of physics and chemistry adjacent stuff this hobby involves. You make a clay SPHERE and it's really sturdy because the air is trapped in there! Then you make whatever out of it.
Any potters have advice on how to center? It keeps being my biggest issue. Out of these 4 cups on the edge here 2 got centered-ish and the other ones are off. I put handles on them anyway because we're learning here but ugh. #techniclayartist
so I was doodling with no purpose and it turned into a uhh goose magician and I was suddenly reminded of the duck timecop android from paperinik new adventures and I wonder why she didn't have a bigger fandom really. Gadget Hackwrench got a cult and nothing for Lyla Lay? 😅
#techniclayartist love it when a plan comes together. I didn't make as much throwing progress as I'd hoped but the wobbly cup and bowl are both 600g up from 500g. Centering is still my biggest issue...
Oh and yes that one bowl has a bunch of shards melted into it; witnessed my first kiln disaster today. You can't really know what will break, it's just sad when it does. I have no hard feelings! It could just as well have been my piece!
K-k-kiln haaaullll I am learning a lot of obvious stuff like "blue rutile looks great on its own stop mixing it with stuff" and "engobe is dope but you can't treat it like a speedpaint"
You know it is on my todolist to move away from google I just need to read 6666 emails first
Made the start of a playlist I'm gonna blast through the wall at my fucking annoying neighbor before I move from here. I will add to it every time they annoy me from now on
Fresh from the kiiiiln I am very much yolo so I will test glazes by just randomly applying them. Sometimes it works! But in this batch the non mixed glazed ones definitely came out the best. I have also definitely seen work done with the same glazes that look way better haha. But I'm learning
Shot, chaser. Hope this is still true. Feels good to purchase a game and kinda look forward to trying it? I'm doing this on uhhh "I thought warframe was really cool" vibes.
please, name my college of dance bard. I can't come up with a name for SHIT. He's a yuan-ti, lawful neutral
Less deep molds will probably be more successful! Like it works but imperfections are added in each step so the base model simply has to be better
