Two Uniparty nutters in a fight to the death about which one of them has the moral high ground over the other. Was it immoral to not vote (for Jill Stein, dinner guest of war criminal Putin) or was the true immorality the votes we cast along the way? You decide!

Argumentum ad populum is a fallacy. If 60% of people vote for something, that doesn't mean it's a good thing. A majority can be wrong.

In the case of the 2024 elections, 98% either voted for genocide or didn't vote to try to stop it. Only the 2% who voted 3rd party were on the side of morality.

Anyone who says "platooning microcars" with a straight face does not need to be taken seriously. You are officially cooked.

The moron I am arguing with thinks that a platoon of microcars can match the density of a bus. This photo, showing how much street real estate is taken up to transport 60 people by car, bus, and bikes respectively could demonstrate even to a child that my interlocutor is either a bot being run by self-driving car companies, or someone with no comprehension.

Oh, that's definitely a big part of it. Control and dependence-- look at Europe's addiction to Russian Nat Gas. This is probably also why the OPEC types were cozy with Trump and pushing for a second term. Only Trump is an impulsive imbecile, so it's backfired for them. Too bad, so sad.

@dieworkwear.bsky.social Have you encountered the curious case of the pleated-front sweatpants? The draw string is very noticeably on the outside, and there are no belt loops. I'm not sure what this is trying to accomplish.

A pair of light grey, faux-linen textured pants by Alfani, made out of a stretchy, lightweight sweatpant material, with a drawstring and no belt loops, but pleated front like formal dress pants. Only $80 and a knock to the head required!

In defense of this bizarre combo, Alfani says:

Use all the weapons available to you. If you are not a Christian, ask someone with Christian bonafides to provide insight on what verses to use.

I have a kind of crazy idea for this moment in America. If we are going to protest or observe agents who may become violent or press false charges, bring a stack of Bibles with you, hand them one, and say that you are evangelizing them with the Gospel. I'm serious.
You could even put post it notes in the pages that are most relevant to welcoming foreigners or being peacemakers. You have a first Amendment right to free speech and protest, but you also have a right to freedom of religion.
But here's the point, this Administration is all about spectacle and the images it creates. Think of how Trump had people attacked so he could walk over to a church and take a picture holding up a Bible. Think of how his team rushed photographers to snap pictures of him as Secret Service agents swarmed around him to protect him.
Make Republicans see pictures of the "violent mob" handing out Bibles, quoting scripture verses. Make these agents decide if they want to risk attacking people holding scripture. Do they want to risk that becoming the defining images and narrative of this moment?
We are fighting lawless liars in a propaganda war. We can use their symbols and their values to force them to confront the truth. I'm sure this administration will cook up whatever reason they need to do what they want, but we can create holes in their propaganda narrative and use their symbols to show that people opposed to lawless agents are not what their news stations, podcasters, and elected officials say we are.

I recommend anyone who is interested in better understanding the history and importance of Heresies in Christianity read the book "Heresies and How to Avoid Them" by Ben Quash and Michael Ward. It more or less goes chronologically, heresy by heresy.

Some of the architectural space reminds me of other Alma-Tadema Roman works, like "Spring," or..."Spring, but this time with Dinosaurs."

Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema's "Spring," which depicts an imagined Roman procession through a city.

Flowers and marble and people dropping things from rooftop balconies, oh my!

Alma-Tadema is notable for his hyper-detailed style. The marble looks real, and the detail extends down to the flower petals. In another painting, he incorporated something like 6000 individual red rose petals, each one modeled from a real rose petal. He had roses shipped daily from the Riviera in order to accomplish this obsessive detail.
He is also noted for his massive scale. This painting, Spring, is at the Getty in Los Angeles, and is VERY large. With the frame, I think it's about 6 feet tall, and 2.5 wide.

Dinotopia author-artist James Gurney does his best pastiche of Alma-Tadema, with dinosaurs joining the parade.

In his favour, he saw clearly both the inherent absurdities and the great evils of Eugenics at a time when it was very much in vogue. He also manages to recognize in the Irish question the constructed nature of "race" and its use to the state. But on other race questions he is catastrophically bad.
