Track two of 1966: An ode to pot, acid or chocolate? Why wasn't it recorded at Stax? Get yer answers, and much more, in yet another fab bonus episode from @beatlespod.bsky.social #NIRAgain #WhatWouldRaySay
Too bad, but it's a great memory to have. - Have you heard of the Bowie Odyssey books? Written by Simon Goddard each book covers one year of Bowie's 1970s. I have started Odyssey 71 and the proto-Spiders are in it too.
1966 seems to be a relatively non-productive year for The Beatles. They recorded & released 16 songs in that year & there is a lot to say about them (not just by Ray Davies). Part 1: Ringo-isms, tape loops, a new engineer, Timmy Leary & the tee-beeshian book of the dead. #NIRAGAIN #WhatWouldRaySay
I have just realised, that this set also includes the German (dubbed) version, which I have never seen, but I can't bring myself to watch it. And what are YOU watching this evening?
#nowplaying #nowspinning #vinylcommunity I can't believe that this album is already 30 (!) years old. Can't even remember where I bought this excellent sounding counterfeit.
Here's my two cents from Germany: The Globe Show single was released in a picture sleeve over here, claiming that it was "The new world hit" (!). And for some reason the Ramsey Lewis album came out on Chess in Germany and not on Cadet. Thanks for this excellent episode.
#nowplaying #nowspinning #vinylcommunity Hello darkness, my old friend I hear there is a JD live box set coming soon...

Sooo, the #KinsaleBeatlesFestival will return: 29th January - 1st February, 2027. 😃
There's a reason why we recently celebrated #GlobalBeatlesDay. But who remembers *checks notes* "Our World"? In this fab bonus episode Steven and Jason take us back to a time where technology was our friend, talk song alternatives and of course satellites (well, one of them does). #NIRAGAIN
Yes, I have read it! Bill Harry gave it 5 stars back in '84, calling it "the best biography of the Beatles currently in print", while at the same moaning about "a number of inaccuracies and several dubious conclusions". A strange read indeed, not least bc the German translation is a pain in the a**.
Brosnan is good, as can be expected, but otherwise the movie is nothing special.
By the way, the latest @seasidepodreview.bsky.social episode on "Calling All Girls" is a good one.
