I am also aware that the beans are dehydrated. This has freaked a lot of people out, but I've seen beans preserved and prepared this way for decades. There was a natural foods co that sold them this way in the 80s and 90s--good for camping and travel. www.thedailymeal.com/1982729/avoi...

Beans are in a ton of the menu items at Taco Bell, and they're a go-to option for vegetarians. Black beans are used for stand-alone sides, while pinto beans are used for the refried beans found in burritos. Other ingredients include water, soybean oil, and a seasoning blend of salt, onion powder, sunflower oil, maltodextrin (processed plant starch), trehalose (a type of sugar), and other proprietary spices. The beans do arrive dehydrated in large bags, and Taco Bell's prep guide spells out how they're reconstituted. One bag of seasoned beans gets 3 quarts of hot water. Stir with a spatula for 30-45 seconds, and they're ready after sitting for 45 minutes.

Both the pinto beans and black beans at Taco Bell are vegan because they aren't made with lard. They also have relatively few ingredients compared to other fast food options, like McDonald's 19-ingredient French fries. Dried beans also generally contain a bit more protein and have a significantly lower sodium content than canned versions. So, while Taco Bell's bean prep might be off-putting for some, the beans aren't necessarily anything to avoid. You might actually want to use them as a vegan protein hack for your next Taco Bell order, right alongside the sauce hack for even tastier Taco Bell Nacho Fries.

Completely understand that the beans are heavily processed and insanely full of sodium. Tortillas are processed. No argument there. That doesn't make them not vegan. When you order anything 'Fresco Style' they replace sauces, dairy, etc w/ tomatoes. Nothing here is non-vegan.

Recommended spot--off Ventura, CA & Channel Islands Nat'l Park. They hang out there a good bit. I saw four all together (July, 2018) which was exciting even for the interp guy on our transport. He did say they see blues often though. The fluke of one of them is my profile pic. Spectacular day.

There are so many great books for kids that help ensure younger gens live in a world where history—& people’s stories get told. I love this one—I have it in my library and feature it several times a year, when I present or do programming on WW II, music, Black History month, Womens history month…

Wasn't paying attn as I got gas on Fri--just ran my "club card" & noted it'd knock 80¢ off per-gallon. After, I saw the price was $5.69 & thought maybe it hadn't processed the reduction. I had to go look at the street sign before realizing $5.69 was the discounted price.

As cute as this is, I am suspicious. You can see, around each animal as they move, a field of blurriness. There are a couple of other things that don't look quite right to me. Just a killjoy, I know, but erf--can't stand what AI is doing to us. 🤔
