Apparently, these are the dog days of summer.

A medium-sized, light-colored dog is sleeping where the person is supposed to sleep, in a king-sized bed. There is a head depression in the pillow. The sheets have small, blue flowers.

I live in a funky NorCal town, about 25 miles inland from the Pacific as the crow flies and we lack an economic base but hey, the weather is comfortable most of the time. We have not had a single 100 deg day here this summer.

A mini-quilt finish. Butterflies, pattern by Sew Kind of Wonderful. This was the practice piece they recommend you sew before taking on the much bigger Starry Night, which I am hoping to finish before Advent. Hand quilted, per my usual. #quiltsky

My future is peachy.

I have thread basted many quilts including most recently this queen sized quilt. I’m a hand quilter and need the layers to be very secure for the months ahead when I will be dragging the quilt around, including on camping trips and to Hawaii, etc. I use a large table and do it in sections.

TIL that great blue herons nest in trees?! But their bodies are so big and their legs are so long. And yet, there is a nesting pair in a eucalyptus tree at the Pismo Beach State Park campground. 🪶
