Anyone going to the @dgpuk-meth.bsky.social conference in Cologne in September/October, beware of weird spam mails about hotel bookings 🚨 #commsky
Nice, I can require my BA students to use Quarto Markdown for their thesis analyses. Purely for their scientific development, of course, and definitely not because I'd rather not squint at 400 lines of unannotated raw R script with no structure 😇 Would you look at that!!
That's a wrap on my Research-in-Practice Lab! And what better way to cap off a year-long journey towards your bachelor theses than with a cold lemonade! It was an absolute pleasure to supervise this lively bunch. Proud ⭐
Second #ica26, done. A week of good research and awesome conversations. That sense of belonging ICA gives me is hard to name, but easy to feel. Taking it home to Zurich. ✈️
Saturday morning @ #ica26: human-chatbot relationship formation, presenting our latest preprint "AI-RP: The AI Relationship Process Framework" –Sat 6/06, 10:30–11:45 am –Auditorium 2 (CTICC1, Lev 2) Slides: osf.io/8bujv/files/... Interested? Please come with questions––feedback very welcome! 🤩
Schopenhauer likely spent his career watching people win arguments they may have been wrong about and responded by writing down all 38 ways they did it lol. A fun little read on eristic dialectic. I plan to read Toulmin next. Any recs for logic & dialectic rabbit hole welcome!
I’m leaving the Netherlands tomorrow with one smiling and one crying eye. My time at the VU department has been wonderful. Amidst the storm that a PhD can sometimes be, I will leave fueled by new ideas, great conversations, and the warmth of a lively, down-to-earth community of excellent researchers
You can’t beat good conversations with colleagues from adjacent fields or methods. Look at me ordering a complexity theory book now 📕 will report back!
Coffee machine at the VU department knows whats up 😄☕️ #wienermelange
@thvu.bsky.social and his PhD Martin let me try out the Apple Vision Pro. My first time trying AR/VR! I could actually see myself using this for work. Floating apps, good audio, and handling that’s quite intuitive. And maybe in the future an integrated AI companion joining you via AR?
*ping* Graduate Campus Short Grant received! 🤩 So grateful to the University of Zurich for supporting early career researchers! Looking forward to getting this project off the ground.
Had a great time presenting my dissertation projects at the @vuamsterdam.bsky.social Digital Media and Behavior Lab today. The conversations afterward were honestly the best part. Thanks for having me! ✨
Currently in Amsterdam for a research stay at VU. Just checked my phone to find this. Guess Zurich apartment will have to fend for itself 🤷
Excellent preprint by @amperjay.bsky.social against framing machine relations as parasocial. Though I (currently) sit somewhere between Counterargument 1 & 3, her argument is elegant and sharp. Frankly, the kind of work that makes the rest of us think harder. doi.org/10.48550/arX...
Rotating through three different beverages, cheese bites, and crackers while digging rabbit holes for a conf submission has me reaching genuine flow state.
After a full day of coding, I like to unwind by… managing my own data center (sadly just a demo for now).
