Winnipeggers, beautiful Winnipeggers, I have news. My book’s now available at the Grant Park @mcnallyrobinson.com! At long last you finally have somewhere to spend the $23.95 (plus applicable taxes) that’s been burning a hole in your pocket. Revel in my misery!
🎵Here on Bluesky an unboxing, A hardcover, not a trade, And it contains the reminders Of every time I was humbled Or cut down till I wrote out My embarrassments and shames. I am dying, I am dying, But the stories still remain.🎶
As a proud University of Manitoba alum, I'm conflicted about doing panel at a University of Winnipeg conference. Like, what if some disaffected UWers smell the UM on me and, like, corner me in a dark alley just off Portage and demand I name five of their most famous grads? 1/2
I spent 7 years of evenings & weekends drafting a manuscript, writing well before sunup & long after sundown, starting before the Novel Coronavirus & ending after Trump’s re-election, but it’s finally done, the contract’s signed, and the book will be published by the University of Calgary Press.
It’s the bald eagle gnawing on the umbilical cord that gets me.
If you told my seven-year-old self that his favourite store in the whole wide world would one day heart a social media post he wrote as adult, he’d say “the heck is social media?”
Spent the weekend flipping through childhood baseball cards to write this--problem is, I'm not sure it's actually a poem.

I'm thinking about adding a line at the end of anything I write to ensure readers "These words were written by a human."
So, Fully Completely got a 9.4 from Pitchfork, eh? My 12-year-old self is wholly, entirely outraged that it didn't earn a perfect 10 for "Wheat Kings" alone.
Nathan knew a little something about rejection. For example, despite being above average height, he was cut from every basketball team he ever tried out for. But, for reasons beyond his comprehension, Turnstone Press agreed to publish this, his memoir of sorts.
Awoke with a David Lynch-sized hole in my heart, and it feels like watching A Straight Story is the only way to fill it.
Go ahead, judge this book by its cover. (Pretty please do so. I’d rather you judge this book by its cover than judge me, the author of this book. See, I reveal some gnarly bits of my character here, so I wouldn’t mind if you got out all your judgement at the cover.)
Cannot believe how much more like myself Jonathan Dyck’s illustration of me looks than my own face does.
I sometimes find myself missing the wind and rain in the priairies
