Nature Talk Africa
@naturetalkafrica
A registered non-profit, youth-led organization for oil projects affected youth, based in Hoima—where major oil development activities are ongoing. We defend our community & environmental rights through community organizing, non-violent actions, etc.
At the #CommunalFoodEvent, elder Onwang Boniface reminded us "Goats were for eating & marrying women, now everything is for buying." He added that preservation once meant using cassava stem tubers to cook instead of cutting down trees. A call back to a simpler, sustainable living. #UMIFund
During our Saturday #CommunalFoodEvent, community members shared knowledge on #foodpreservation, passing down practices that kept our ancestors food-secure long before modern methods. Practices that can still guide sustainable communities today. Grateful to #UMIFund for the support.
Our Q2 2026 Impact Report is out. 200+ youth, women & EHRDs trained to champion #ClimateJustice and safely document #rightsviolations across the #AlbertineRegion. Grateful to our partners & allies for the support. Read it 👇 www.naturetalkafrika.org/view-report/... #UMIFund @oxfamamerica.bsky.social
Last Saturday, NaTA convened a #CommunalFoodEvent to reflect on ancestral wisdom & values that sustained our communities. We revisited traditional healing, kneeling around medicinal herbs, walking barefoot as acts of humility & care. Grateful to #UMIFund for the support. @oxfamamerica.bsky.social
Where nature thrives, communities thrive. In Hoima, Kikuube, and Buliisa, that means land, water, and livelihoods protected — even as the pipeline moves through the region. This #WorldNatureConversationDay, stand with the people doing that work. #climatejustice #nature #conservation
When we asked a group of community members in the Albertine region what their future energy dreams look like, they didn't hesitate: solar energy, biomass energy. Real solutions, named by the people who'll live with them. Communities already have the answers. #energytransition #renewableenergy #solar
Repowering Afrika begins with us." That's the message the youth in Kyakabooga carried this weekend. It's not a promise from above but a commitment communities are making for themselves. #renewableenergy #Energytransition
Fossil fuels kill over a million people worldwide every year through air pollution alone. Solar pollutes nothing. That stood out at #RepowerAfrika 2nd anniversary in Kyakabooga and Uganda's Constitution backs the right to peacefully demand a shift to clean energy. #justenergytransition #energyjustice
At two years of #RepowerAfrica in Kyakabooga resettlement, Mr Kibego said, "Instead of asking leaders to buy drinks during community visits, ask them to donate solar panels for households and support the installation of community biogas systems" Read👇 share.google/ndDfeNsKt2Db95…
Oweki Girafel, Chairperson of Nyakasinina Horticulture Group, also spoke. They started with no training in fish rearing or vegetable growing and lack irrigation tools & land to expand their pond. Fish theft shrank their membership but they're pushing forward. They need training and support to grow.
Obeling Emmanuel, Chairperson of Nyahaira Youth Group shared at NaTA's peer-to-peer exchange. Skills gaps still hold back beekeeping & farming. Crop farming works better. They hope for more harvesting equipment plus certificates (with NaTA & ORRA's support) to open bank accounts to ease saving.
Alfred, a founding member of ARNET, shared his story at NaTA's peer-to-peer exchange. One group among many working toward climate justice and social resilience. His group is still finding its footing. He's reaching out to NaTA for guidance to grow. Growth is faster with a guide.
This week, NaTA organized a peer-to-peer learning exchange for community self-help groups from Nzorobi, Nyakasinina, Kataba and Nyahaira to share experience adapting to a changing climate. 30 participants with one goal: protect the environment through sustainable, community-led projects. #Community
With trust as their bond, Nyakasinina Horticulture savings group continues to meet every week to pool their weekly contributions. In a quiet corner of the community, records are kept and trust is upheld. Together, building community resilience. #CommunityResilience
The Nyakasinina Horticulture Group is in their second round planting cabbage & Nakati, tending their fish pond, and meeting weekly through their VSLA P'Anyim Resilience Fund to save and access loans. This is community resilience in action. Stand with them, support their initiative.
They didn't wait for anyone to come save them. The Nyakasinina Horticulture Group built their own space where elders speak freely about the impacts of oil and gas development and what climate change has taken. And from this circle, something powerful is growing. More communities can build this too.
Happy Heroes day. Today we honour those who fight not with weapons but with truth, courage, and love for their land. Every great nation stands on the shoulders of those who gave themselves to a cause beyond personal gain. We celebrate every EHRD standing for land, life & justice in the Albertine.
Meet the Nyakasinina Horticulture Group. Every Wednesday, they save together and invite a community elder to share their lived experience of climate change and oil development impacts. Every meetup they are building resilience. They want more affected communities to organize into self-help groups.
Today is #WorldEnvironmentDay Protecting nature is protecting our future. At @NatureTalk_A, we stand with communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis in the Albertine region, Building communities where people and nature flourish.

Climate justice is not just a statement. It involves taking action, training defenders so they know their rights, and standing with them when those rights are violated. #ClimateJustice #HumanRightsDefenders #CommunityVoices
A region that powers the world cannot afford to power its own home. NaTA demands clean, community-led energy that serves the people not corporations. Energy justice is not a privilege, It is a right. #PowerThePeople #FossilFuelsCostTooMuch #KickPollutersOut #AfikaVuka #AffordableEnergyNow
The #GlobalKickPollutersOut Week of Action is a declaration that working class and frontline communities worldwide refuse to keep subsidising fossil fuel profits with their lives. We're confronting not only Total but the whole system. History will vindicate us. #ClimateJustice #KickPollutersOut
Not a politician, not a lawyer but a community defender standing on her own land, holding a truth those in power would rather ignore. This #GlobalWeekOfAction NaTA stands with every defender. Energy justice starts with protecting the people fighting for it. #KickPollutersOut #AffordableEnergyNow
"Kick polluters out, protect communities and livelihoods"This is not a slogan but a lived reality for communities in the Albertine region. This #GlobalWeekOfAction, we are taking the message to the world. #AfrikaVuka #StopEACOP #KickPollutersOut #AffordableEnergyNow #AfricaDay2026
This is what #GlobalWeekOfAction looks like on the ground. Communities from the Albertine region gathered at The People's Tribunal demanding justice, reparations, and an end to fossil fuel expansion that has cost them their livelihoods. #PowerThePeople #StopEACOP #KickPollutersOutOfAfrica
Afrika is awake. And we are not staying quiet. This #AfrikaVuka week, @naturetalkafrica.bsky.social stands with communities on the frontlines - the ones living next to pipelines, losing land, and paying skyrocketing bills. #AffordableEnergyNow #PowerThePeople #FossilFuelsCostTooMuch #AfricaDay2026
The activists and EHRDs showed renewed hope during the last session of the consultations on risks and security measures through a song. Please stand with us through your support to amplify our work, connect us for partnership for easy funding opportunities and solidarity
We collected the views of our #EHRDs on developing an updated safety and security protocols amid the challenging working environment in oil host communities. Outstanding, they demanded for sustained support to build their capacities and provide them assistance whenever they are in need.
