With wargames, as with the horror genre, it's always important to let the right one in. Let's go, New Yorkers! @gmtgames.bsky.social #boardGamesSky #boardgames
5) Banish the Snakes by Kevin McPartland Great weekend! 10/10 would attend again!

Living room and nightstand. You might actually be able to see the nightstand. And this is in NYC! Imagine the planning and wedging and pleading I have to do!
This *has* to be a Republican plant to sow discord among the center and the Left, right? Right?
Every year I travel 2 the Berkshires for family, hiking, & book hunting; the bookstores in the Berkshires are beyond belief. This year I added Saratoga to my route, so in all I hit Lyrical Ballad & Northshire in Saratoga, Yellow House Books in Gt Barrington, & Grey Matter Books in Hadley. #booksky
Yesterday was 6+ hours of GMT’s new Congress of Vienna, a brave & baroque design modeled on Herman’s Churchill. I prefer the Napoleonic framework of CoV, but the game length is forbidding…we got thru only half the game. A beautiful production. Kudos, GMT! @gmtgames.bsky.social @boardgamegeek.com
A two-wargame day, with Campaigns of Montrose: A Year of Living Dangerously 1644-1645 and Six Days Campaign 1814. The former didn’t live up to the hype, unfortunately, but I liked the latter a lot. Reprint, anyone? @boardgamegeek.com
Knizia’s Amun-Re in its 20th Anniversary glory. I was both lugging and teaching, so I crashed and burned score-wise, which this year has been sadly par for the course. But the game really holds up, especially with five, and looks amazing. @boardgamegeek.com
2nd game of Star Trek: Captain’s Chair, this time as the Klingons. Loved it as much as my 1st game, but unfortunately my opponent was a Mentat-Android-Anomaly and he won by 15+ points when I thought I was doing pretty well. Ten thousand thundering typhoons! @boardgamegeek.com
Star Trek: Captain’s Chair from WizKids and Frosted Games. Since I love the Imperium games, I knew I’d love this. I was, for once, not wrong. Looking forward to another game of this.
1979: Revolution in Iran. While the rules and play aid could use some tightening up and basic information for new players, the design is very fluid and innovative. Obviously, the subject is hugely important but also hugely ignored in the US. @thedietzfoundation.bsky.social @boardgamegeek.com
4-player Pax Romana 2nd Edition Scenario V “Rise of Rome” by Richard H. Berg and published by @gmtgames.bsky.social @boardgamegeek.com
We need a word for Democrats who are fiddling while democracy burns, because what do you call the opposition party when they enable instead of opposing? What a bunch of Vichy pols!
Ezra & Nehemiah from Garphill Games. Can a medium-weight Euro adequately reflect the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the construction of the Second Temple? A resounding yes! @boardgamegeek.com
The Lord of the Rings: Duel for ME is graphically sumptuous and plays fine, but is just a tad underwhelming, given the splendor of 7WD and expansions. I mean, how many more games can we wring out of the poor LotR IP? Isn’t that mine exhausted by now? Haven’t we looted it enough? @boardgamegeek.com
Got both of these today. Christmas came early this year! Deluxe treatments for both. @gmtgames.bsky.social @profgabriele.com
Ventured into The British Way: Palestine today. A neglected topic, so the focus is very welcome. I liked it, but it’s no Colonial Twilight. Looking forward to trying the other scenarios. Beautiful game!@gmtgames.bsky.social
