There’s absolutely nothing in the law that created the #CFPB that requires consumers to contact the credit bureaus before complaining. This requirement appears to be an effort by the Vought-led CFPB to stifle complaints. #ProtectConsumers
Vought's #CFPB dropped a case against the digital payment app Zelle after it failed to #ProtectConsumers from fraud and identity theft. Zelle's failures cost customers more than $870 million over seven years.
Vought's #CFPB set the stage for hidden discrimination and predatory lending, including old threats, like redlining, and new problems, such as algorithmically based discrimination. #ProtectConsumers
Consumers are encouraged to continue to submit complaints about ongoing credit reporting disputes with both the credit bureau and the CFPB. It is still people’s right to report problems, and the Vought-led #CFPB must work towards a fair financial marketplace. #ProtectConsumers
The repeat offender registry for non-banks is a critical investigatory and compliance tool for companies facing multiple enforcement actions, but the Vought-led #CFPB deprioritized enforcement and let repeat offenders off the hook. #ProtectConsumers
Upon taking over the #CFPB, Russell Vought issued a stop work order preventing CFPB staff from helping families at risk of imminent foreclosure, and leaving 16,000 consumer complaints in limbo. #ProtectConsumers
The so-called Earned Wage Access Consumer Protection Act declares that payday loan app loans are not loans, a claim rejected by 13 out of 13 courts that heard it. Congress must oppose this gift to predatory lenders. #ProtectConsumers #CAD2026
Attacks on the CFPB are 𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬. We're in DC for Consumer Advocacy Day to call on Congress to 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐅𝐏𝐁 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐬. #CAD2026 #ProtectConsumers
The Earned Wage Access Consumer Protection Act harms servicemembers by exempting payday loan apps from the Military Lending Act’s 36% rate cap. And it worsens the affordability crisis for everyone. We're on Capitol Hill this week to urge Congress to reject it. #ProtectConsumers #CAD2026
We're in DC next week for Consumer Advocacy Day to 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐝 & 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 interest rate limits, defeat a bill to encourage high-cost payday loan apps, and demand the #CFPB get back to work to address the affordability 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬. #CAD2026 #ProtectConsumers
RIP Congressman Barney Frank, the legendary co-sponsor of the Dodd-Frank Act, which reigned in the financial industry after the 2007 crisis. Your work helped millions and your legend lives on in all who fight for consumer protection and economic justice. Thank you, Barney! #ProtectConsumers
These bills are "a giveaway to one of the most problematic sectors in the financial services industry. The three major credit bureaus and other CRAs have been by far the most complained-about companies to the #CFPB for many years." @chichiwu.bsky.social #ProtectConsumers www.nclc.org/bills-boosti...
"In a time when consumers are struggling already with the affordability of everyday expenses, Congress should be helping consumers address credit reporting problems, not caving to the industry’s wish list." @chichiwu.bsky.social #ProtectConsumers #CreditReporting www.nclc.org/bills-boosti...

The CFPB still stands a year after the Trump admin tried to delete it, thanks to its staff and advocates. But, its ability to #ProtectConsumers is hanging by a thread. Demand Congress show consumer protection some love. www.responsiblelending.org/show-your-lo... #LoveCFPB

.@hudgov.bsky.social proposed changes would fundamentally rewrite #FairHousing law, and give discrimination the green light. Take action before #ValentinesDay to tell HUD that you ❤️ disparate impact rules & #FairLending. www.nclc.org/urge-hud-to-...
Tell Congress to show us their love for the American people by voting to restore CFPB funding immediately! Contact Congress using this link bit.ly/lovecfpb and ask them who their Valentine will be this year: Working people or predatory lenders? #CFPBMyValentine
