Not liking the sequel to "Texas Enjoys Unusual Bout of Good Summer Weather".
In a new episode of Frontiers of Inaccessibility I saw a wheelchair user double back down the street after crossing to get to the ramp located at the parking lot entrance (see wide angle photo). Great system we've built: 7 lane road and we can't afford a ramp at a crosswalk.
Pulled a total Dad move and loaded up 4 panels of OSB in the minivan by myself. A pyrrhic victory.

An 8-unit townhome development. Doesn't look like they're using hte 8-unit building code (fire sprinklers and alarms here), which I'm guessing is because they're be limited to 7,500sqft of area.

Funny you should say that, it's what Heywood Sanders (author of "Convention Center Follies") questioned as well (From D Magazine and an email to me respectively). CES attendance in 2025 was 152,000.
Can't remove the freeways that we spent all the money on and bulldozed straight through the city because people use them to get away from the city they no longer want to be in. So we build expensive caps on them.
The TAMU article referenced has the relevant chart for this. Basically, it's very expensive to remove enough metals, salt, and radioactive elements from produced water to make it usable.
