We wouldn't be able to help animals like Snoopy without your help. Today, on the NHS Day of Giving (and our 151st anniversary) your gifts will be matched, dollar for dollar, to help twice as many animals. Make more stories like Snoopy's possible here: bit.ly/4xpSBgn
But thanks to the compassionate support from our community and people like you, Snoopy was able to get the surgery he needed to give him the comfort and quality of life he deserves. He handled recovery like a champ and is now thriving, pain-free, in his forever home.
When Snoopy first arrived at the Nebraska Humane Society, he was living with constant discomfort. A condition called "entropion" made his eyelids roll inward, causing irritation with every blink.
Thousands of wonderful pets, like Baron Von Floof here, go through incredible foster homes to recover, gain strength and confidence, and become ready for loving forever homes. Are you interested in being a literal lifesaver? Learn more here: nehumanesociety.org/get-involved/foster-care
Every department at the Nebraska Humane Society plays a pivotal role in creating as many success stories as possible. That very much so includes our Foster Care program, which needs people like you to join in.
Today marks the Nebraska Humane Society's 151st birthday! It's truly an honor to serve our community and all of the pets who make our homes complete. 💜 To celebrate, adoption fees are waived this weekend for pets 6 months and older, like Orc and Virginia here!
Stories like this are possible because of your help. Today, on the NHS Day of Giving and 151st anniversary, your gifts will be matched, dollar for dollar. Make more stories like Superman's possible here: bit.ly/4xpSBgn
After 89 days, multiple surgeries, dozens of X-rays and plenty of TLC, Superman could finally breathe. He was ready to find his forever home. Thankfully, the search didn't take long at all - he was adopted the same day he got the all-clear from the medical team! 💜
To give Superman the best chance at a normal life, he would need a series of complex corrective surgeries - something that one of our veterinarians luckily had experience with. His recovery was long and difficult, but he healed in no time and stayed strong through it all!
Superman wasn't behaving like a normal kitten. Even just a few minutes of playtime left him panting and exhausted. Scans revealed a rare and serious condition called Pectus Excavatum - his sternum was compressing his heart and lungs.
After a month, Cali made a full recovery. But Superman had it harder. First, he wasn't eating. Then there was a strange infection, unexplained hair loss and tummy troubles. He started showing signs of improvement, but his foster mom could tell that something still wasn't right.
Superman and Cali were found in a garage dirty and dehydrated. At barely four weeks old, they were dangerously underweight. They needed help. Most of all, they needed time. Our team quickly found a wonderful foster home where they would receive the love and care they needed.
