Not a ford fan, but the amazing person I’m making this for came from a time when being ford vs dodge vs whatever was a big thing and he was a ford man. I won’t ever make these to sell, obviously, but my father in law gets what makes him smile because he deserves it.

A far too ornate Ford emblem partially carved into 9 oz veg-tan leather. Yes, I’m insane. Yes, I will spend many, many hours tooling this. Yes, my father in law is worth every second and then some.

Prototype of the medical eyepatch I made; used the shell the surgeon gave as a template so that the eye below can open & close and there’s no pressure on the eye socket. Too many patterns and suggestions either ignored the eye’s need to move normally or put the pressure in the eye socket, 1/

Wet molded leather eyepatch made from heavy weight veg tan. This patch follows the shape of the face to prevent the eye from having additional damage. Dyed with Angelus Oxblood red. The model is obscured with an eye emoji over the visible eye and a smiling emoji over the lips and nose because frankly when I used the lip and nose emojis it was creepy. The model is quite handsome underneath.

Mei Mei has been sad since her sister passed. Normally, she goes nuts pretty much 24/7. But between the heat and the sads, this is more her speed now. :( I know this phase passes but I miss her and Mei Mei does too. #cats #catsofbluesky

I got the painting done on this - I sometimes hate how the camera is so high definition that it picks up things that aren’t visible in person. 🤣

Work in progress, for my MIL who does not Bluesky. Used references from free online clip art, then transferred to 9 oz vegtan. This will hold her steno notebooks.

Work in progress. Hummingbird surrounded by flowers. Some flowers want to be hibiscus. Some impatiens. Some fuchsias. I’m actually a wretched artist, but I have to have pictures to put in the leather so I do my best. It will be dyed and painted before it’s all done. :)

You know what’s not ok? Playing “Plague Tale: Requiem” until the wee hours of the morning and then looking up to almost the ceiling to see what that noise is and seeing the WiFi held hostage by this:

A wee plague rat (field mouse) hugging the WiFi antenna like she’s Rose and the titanic just sank, and the only floatation device is the WiFi box.

She doesn’t care how much space there is, there’s no room for Jack. Jack is already an ice cube.

So now she waits for the army of plague rats to break through the ceiling and devour me to save her.

Oh. Yeah. What this is actually for: generic field mouse. Large eyes, large ears, gray brown seated on a black and blue WiFi box thing. It has antenna that somehow remind me of the extra fins on cars when you know the dude driving it is a douchebag. Douche fins, if you will, but the plague rat is holding the douche fin as though it is precious. Or perhaps like the plague rat is precious and the douche fin is the only stable thing left in a chaotic world.

Honestly, wee plague rat? Maybe we all could use a douche fin to hold on to now and again. Ignore the middle aged woman shrieking at your visage, little plague rat. You should see it when she sees a clown now, since losing her innocence to Pennywise.

That last part isn’t true. Or maybe it is. I’ve never seen a clown up close. Like fairies, I know clowns exist but I’ve only ever seen them in photos. Maybe… maybe the image of the clown is a clown itself? Like a weeping angel?

I don’t know how this soliloquy has grown this long, but it has. I have no regrets. I doubt anyone actually reads this particular blurb, one blurb in a vast ocean of blurbs.

The one on the left has had the remnants of my cereal since she was born. The one on the right doesn’t understand why grandma gets the goods. This isn’t going to be happening anymore, though, because we just found out grandma has diabetes. :( Insulin shots for my cat.

On the left: an aged Russian blue named Luna, aka Grandma, aka Kitten Face, aka Her Highness. She is lapping a tiny bit of milk from an eggshell cereal bowl while standing on a redwood dining table like she owns it (I gave up, so sue me, I clean it before company and like the cats better than people anyway. 🤣)

On the right: a youthful dilute tortoiseshell named Lavender, not that she recognizes that name because she is always called Mei-Mei, aka Monster, aka Terrorist, aka Mistress. She manages to look at once judgmental and bereft, realizing she will not get milk today because really cats aren’t supposed to have it.

They are united in their disdain for diabetes-friendly dining.

Made a simple ID holder for one of my kiddos. I am going to be making a Horde inspired one for the other kiddo next. Just a low-key, simple project that’s useful. Trying to clear out my backlog. Ha! #leatherworking

I’m just loving my leafs. One still had tape on, so he has a bald bit that I’ll be taking care of. This is a journal cover I’m making.

3 monstera leaves I’m just proud of. They’re jade green angelus dye on veg tan 2mm. The background is a dye job on heritage leather that is a culmination of colors and sponge techniques that resulted in a warm red-brown on the leather and on my hands. Don’t dye on edibles, folks. PSA, because my hands are this color now too.

It’s for putting on leather. Did each leaf separate. Still struggling with the stem. I do a few random orientations and then arbitrarily tack them in the stem. My pencil work didn’t show well, but this is the sharpie on transfer film version. Ngl, traced the top right off a real leaf.
